He looks like a cannon fodder from what i have seen. He is hyped purely because of his 145k which is why Haris Rauf was also hyped for. He was going at 10 an over this IPL. Even in the India A vs Pakistan A he was thrashed around. Actually, he was hyped because of his in-seam deliveries at a pace of 140-145 kph which hurries the batters. This was before he reformed his bowling in IPL 2024. Harshit was always a test match prospect, he didn't had the T20 or so called death bowling skills. He developed those in 2024 IPL where he started bowling loopy cutters and yorkers against the opposition and became the KKR's go-to bowler. Just like Prasidh this year added the slower ones in his skillset. raki05, bouncers and Mosher 1 2

So much so like the WT20 in Australia as well. And in Australia he single handedly won them the ODI series recently and was best pacer on show. Harshit belongs in similar league. He is pretty raw atm and yes his ceiling is higher than even Rauf coz he can actually succeed in Tests as well. India A vs Australia A it was Arshdeep who was thrashed by Harvey and McGurk. Like Nissanka did to him. Mosher, express bowling and bouncers 3

He can clock upto 150 kph, has a high release point and is fairly durable . express bowling 1

We can't use the word "ceiling" for everyone especially in LOI which requires thinking on the go. Haris Rauf all he does is alternate between speeds. On non-helpful wicket he gets thrashed even by Bangladesh tailender.

I think Gauti is trying to convert him into sort of an all rounder to increase the batting depth. Knowing Gauti he would have 11 batsmen with few batsmen who can bowl. He is unfinished in shorter format. Also he doesn't have the lean and mean frame. Looks a little fat for such an young guy

Pace 2. Height/length of levers wrt torso 3. Durability 4. Flexibility, especially of wrist/elbow for that extra snap and backspin revs express bowling 1

That's not on Harshit. He is never going to be ready if he doesn't play. Even India's greatest ODI bowler, Shami, was average for his first 25 ODIs. And the best version of Shami was when he was officially 33 years old and a fair bit older in reality. Harshit's ODI career has started well. Need to back him. But in LOIs from what i have seen he looks like the old Umesh yadav. As of now only ceiling i see is KKR connection through Gambhir.

Which is why we have rarely produced pacers averaging 25 or less in tests or ODIs ( 100+ wickets ). Mosher 1

I have watched almost every over Harshit has bowled in LOIs as well as the IPL. And he is nowhere like old Umesh Yadav. He gets much more bounce than Umesh and hits the splice of the bat, bowls much better variations and has a better yorker and slower ball. Provides less width too. His main issue is bowling too many slower balls even on normal decks. This type of issue gets sorted only with experience. Edited October 5, 2025 by express bowling Mosher and singhvivek141 2
Vk1 Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 At the moment he is playing all formats.. If he is in the reckoning for tests he should play couple of ranji seasons and/or counties if possible

This shows massive wicket taking ability. 2) He has picked 5 wickets from 3 T20Is averaging 22.4. ER of 10.18 is high though. So he has displayed massive wicket taking ability in both LOI formats and decent ER in ODIs. What pudding and what doing are you talking about ???? 3) Even if he had not done the above, trying to judge a rookie pacer, batter or spinner by their performance, after a few early games, is a wrong approach.
