Australia has a very good social welfare system that such people will be taken care off.. You may not have extravagant life but you will not die of hunger.

Also, he can still do cricket punditry or coaching at local level in Australia. Even small clubs pay decent amount of money.

Where did he spent all his money he made from different coaching stints? And what the hell is Cricket Australia doing? They have signed multi million dollars media contracts.

They can help there fellow aussies.

Let’s be honest here. Unlike india , many countries like Australia don’t have a culture of savings . Yearly vacations etc are the norm . They also have social security .

he played for Australia , coached india and did commentary . Time to think of retirement is in 40s and 50s

chris cairns is another example . Compared to todays players they were not millionaires but lived a good life .

Youve got to be kidding !! How insulting to all the people whove worked hard for 50+ years. This joker could have used his surname to coach kids, speak at events, commentating etc. or gotten off his lazy backside and gotten a job. So hes renting? Big deal, at least he can afford a roof over his head. Surely he has brothers and family and safety net. Articles like this are sickening..

This guy had multiple coaching stints at top sides (aussie sides). I think his contract with the bcci meant he was pulling in 2 crore a year back then.

His brother ian seems to be doing well commentating.

While there is a grain of truth to what is said, normal ranji/local cricketers of that era did not do well. Chappell should have enough money.

There needs to be more analysis on this. Poor business desicions? Extraordinary lifestyle?
