SKY has been the biggest batting failure in our CWC campaign

No matter what his experience is, should have tried Rinku. Slowly turning out to be a gun batter and clutch mentality. 50 times better than SKY for sure.

Rinku is another young player who was overlooked just because it's a world cup. He and Jaiswal deserved to be part of the squad.

So that's my point . They were the team loaded with batting "allrounders" and that balance worked fine.

They always go that route and always pays off for them .

Also they played only 1 specialist spinner.

ODI cricket has always been about that. Batting allrounders and quicks.

Selecting 3 specialist spinners and then playing shardul thakur as a bowling allrounder are the kind of ideas India needs to get rid of at least by 2027.

I agree with you.

You are right.

2 points tho.

1. Our issue was we didnt have those resources and we didnt groom them so we had to make do with hat we got.

2. If you compare their attack with ours..

They had 3 genuine pacers...starc, hazlewood and cummins

We had 3 genuine pacers....bumrah, shami and siraj

They had 1 AR pacer...mitch marsh

We had Pandya before injury

They had 1 genuine spinner...zampa

We had Kuldeep.

So far its the same.

They had 2 batsmen who could bowl part time spin...Maxwell and Head...

We didnt have that..instead we had a Jaddu who could bowl better than them but not bat as well as them.

---

Ideally if we had a pure batsmen who could roll over his arms and take the place of Jaddu with Pandya in the xi ...that would have served better...

But Pandya got injured and we didnt have a Yuvi type bowler.

---

Even then we would have lost cos our batting was imbalanced.

Iyer can smash spin but is horrible against genuine pace and bounce.

Sky is so unproven.

Kohli can only accumulate.

Kl gets stuck and only smashes in the end.

The moment Gill and Rohit got out...and cummins snagged Iyer, the game was mostly done.

We seriously need a better batting lineup that isnt so limited.

Had India bowled first, we would have won and Aussies wpuld be lamenting about their horrible batting lineup.

My only point is we should develop batting all-rounders going forward by having them bowl more.

Also @sensible-indian , it is beyond any doubt now that a batting-heavy balance is without question a better balance to play.  So, it is much more imperative to develop batting all-rounders than bowling all-rounders which is always riskier.

Totally.

Anyone there in the pipeline or is it slim pickings there too?

If not there, they have to start bowling now. The likes of Travis Head did not start off as all-rounders. He only started increasing bowling workloads recently.

If not available, they have to be manufactured with the likes of Tilak bowling more in every bilateral

Riyan is a ready-made #6 but there;s too much irrational hate for him.

He failed but also wasn't used well by TM. Atleast 2-3 times there was opportunity to send him in last 10-12 overs and they sent someone else. It would have given him confidence and match practice. Its like they were forced to play him. Could have played Kishan

Even Ash could have come in for him in final on that pitch/
