Why is Ruturaj rated so highly?

Should play Tests and ODI's though as an opener when Rohit retires.

50 overs requires more skills and technique and have slightly tougher conditions. Gill,Sudarshan,Jaiswal,KL (in odis) and if you want to take the risk-Abhishek (who can also bowl) are ahead and have more upside . So can’t slot him.

Abhishek in ODI's..at the moment no.

Let him play T20's only. Sudharshan can play ODI's.

 

Jaiswal is the only true cross format batter we have from the younger gen.

Cricket is soon going to need players with more utility than one skill.  You need to be way ahead in your skill if you are a one dimensional skilled player. KL can keep and has better technique than Rutu and can be as destructive or more + same amount of initial tuktuk/safe approach. I think Rutu is technically more adept than Abhishek in ODIs but Abhishek is high risk high reward player + can also bowl.

 

Gill is a must in ODIs as a batsman.

 

Sudarshan has more upside than Rutu

Would rather take ruthraj than kl Rahul. Ruth raj at least doesn’t play like a snail and make opposition players look good. What KL Rahul did final WC 23 is unforgivable.

Sky and Virat sucked in the final too. I don’t rate KL that highly anymore but KL is 20 times the talent and cricketer than Rutu is. Let’s not get carried away here lol.

Agree to what you said.

Though given the way cricket is played, more than the technique the mental strength is important.

 

DK was technically solid than MS but latter had more success than the former.

Talent alone doesn’t do ****. KL has zero awareness. He another Rahane at least Rahane won us test matches in England, South Africa and series in Australia. KL did zilch. Cricket will only have specialists another reason is people who throw balls for practice. We no longer have batsman bowling overs like Sachin , sehwag , yuvraj.

Low ceiling, struggles against pace. Ability is lacking, honest trier, can be a Rayudu like player but Rayudu won us a 5 match ODI series in NZ, that too the peak NZ of 2019 at full strength. 

 

Him, Vihari, Bharat, these are the guys VVS, Dravid prefer. GG will be different. He'll prefer Abhishek, Venky Iyer, Rinku types.
