Indian Xi for T20 world cup 2024

It may be an early discussion as IPL is still remaining but there is lack of Intnl T20s for India now.Based on the peerformances and situation tlll now..I would like to form Indian t20 xi starting with Jswal,Rinku and SKY an dthen form team around them..I don't care whoever is dropped to accomodate both Jswal and Rinku..as we need mentally stronger players..

 

Here are my 3 combinations.I have emphasized on batting till 8th and Jswal,Rinku and SKY as must.

 

Combo 1: Bat till 8th,5 specialist bolwers incl Pandya..need to make 6th bowler out of Kohli,Rinku,Jswal,Sharma..

No way Pant is coming right away and keeping in a World cup

Can not trust Axar outside India. He leaves all his skills at the immigration. In WC 22 in Aus, he completely forgot how to play cricket. Proved to be dud against quality attacks with the bat and he bowled so badly that the captain didn't even give him the ball after first match.

looks like they are going to play Sharma and Kohli together..else they should have not included them in T20Is..against Afg..unless they have a very bad ipl..its also possible there could be some injury in the team..that gives them excus eof playing them together..

Very weak batting which ends at no.6. The No. 8,9,10,11 batters can't hold a bat to save their lives.    In case of couple of early wickets, the middle order will bat like a test match.  And that will be the end of it.  Repeat of 2023 WC Final and the Bilateral series defeat against Windies in Aug 2023 where we kept playing 4 tailenders.  Problem is our middle order is unreliable.  Pandya is hit or miss.

once again we have the problem with none of our batsmen unable to bowl at all,the best option might be to go with only 5 bowlers including Hardik.

This will give us a really lon batting lineup which will offset the problem if playing only 5 bowlers.playing only 5 bowlers in T20s is not ideal but we can get away with it in slow West indies wickets.

It is what it is unfortunately...the only way we can "strengthen" our tail is by playing Deepak Chahar or Shardul Thakur at no 8 & Bishnoi at 9 (he can bat), but that comes with it's own compromise.

 

Crux of the matter is, we are still an unbalanced team. A team like Afghanistan is making us sweat despite..imagine what Australia or England will do in pressure situations.

We need genuine wicket taking bowlers, Deepak, Shardul will never win us a game with their batting.

 

I think @express bowling did a breakdown of Thakur's batting for us, its been basically useless.

India just need to make the Semi Finals for Dravid and BCCI to congratulate the players for a brave effort.

Wash, Rinse and repeat till the next WC.

Agree, playing Shardul or Deepak at no 8 just to add mythical batting depth will impact our bowling big time.

Deepak is a good T20 cricketer though, if a bit too reliant on new ball. Just cant stay fit.

Agree with OP @Need4Speed that 11 needs SKY, Jasiwal and Rinku. I would say it also needs 6 bowling options including Hardik. But we can not have all of those things and also play Rohit and Virat... I would personally much rather have Rinku than either of the oldies

I am not against Kohli but will be heartbreaking and unfair on Rinku if he is sacrificed for Kohli..Rohit should take this tough decision for country and Kohli should understand thats how he can contribute to the team by making way for Rinku..

Why always 6 proper bowling options ? That is absolutely unsustainable. 

 

India keeps losing and we play the same light batting lineup every single time. 

 

Hardik at 7, Axar/Jadeja at 8 , Bumrah, Siraj , Arshdeep/2nd spinner is all we need.

 

6th bowler has to be a part timer not a proper bowler /bowling allrounder.

That means we will only go with 5 bowlers.

Had Jaiswal/Rinku been bowling...this could have worked very well.

But since Dravid & company didn't tested them...they aren't going to bowl, and going with only 5 bowling options out of which one is injury prone and other is too condition dependent.
