BazBall in India

Recommended Posts

It is the right way to play in India. There is no point in blocking all the time. Aggressive batting like Sehwag is the way.

Given more luck, 398 would have been chased in India some day. On such an uneven bounce, just staying in the middle would not get runs.  There is no point in blocking on such a pitch with uneven bounce. If not for BUmrah, India would have lost this match. They took our spinners to the cleaners. Even Ashwin looked tripe there, couldn’t purchase his 500th wicket!

Hope Drawvid and AluFritters-Burger realize this.

If we continue like this, will back England to win the series

So if Jadeja was not run out or some fluky dismissals were avoided, India would have led this series 2-0 even with all non performers in the team.

That is the gulf between two sides.

India should have scored 600 plus easily in both tests. They  gift wrapped their wickets.

Exactly, aggressive batting is key. Sweeping , slog sweep, can neuter spin bowling.

Aggression without any plan is not the answer.Rohhit Sharma is the main culprit, he has no idea what he is doing, one day he is ultra aggressive and next day he is ultra defensive.

Iyer is another idiot who gift wrapped his wickets. It is not like he is scoring over 100 SR.

English spinners are not that great, they were giving boundary ball every over. There was no need for them to throw their wickets.

Too much is being made about Bazball IMO . Bazball did not win them first test. India's incomptence gave them the test IMO.

Captaincy is big part what is making the series close. Rohit is being exposed brutally as a captain. He has no idea what needs to be done on the field.

He is even lacking basic things you need to do as a captain on Indian wickets.

Sums it up perfectly. Sos to kohli and get him back to captaincy just for tests.

2nd test at Vizag was somewhat similar to 2nd test of 2016.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/england-tour-of-india-2016-17-1030195/india-vs-england-2nd-test-1034811/full-scorecard

India batted first in 2016 and 2024.

Day 1 score in 2016 - 317/4

Day 1 score in 2024 - 336/6

Ashwin was not out with centurions Kohli (151) and Jaiswal (179) on both ocassions.

Day 2 in 2016 - India bowled out for 455

Day 2 in 2024 - India bowled out for 396, England bowled out for 253

Day 3 in 2016 - England bowled out for 255. India 98/3

Day 3 in 2024 - India bowled out for 253, England 67/1

Day 4 in 2016 - India bowled out for 204 by lunch, England 87/2 in 59 overs - Cook and Haseeb Hameed went into blockathon.

Day 4 in 2024 - England bowled out for 292 while chasing 399.

Day 5 in 2016 - England bowled out for 158 while chasing 405.

India scored almost same amount of runs on both ocassions 659 in 2016 and 651 in 2024, but main difference was in England's score. They gave themselves better condtions to bat in with their approach.

Was way off.  In my defense, it was after first two tests and even the English media went ga-ga over BazBall and how India is on the backfoot and have to resist from preparing spin mambas.

The series headline is

Bharat ne BazBall ki dhajjiyan uda di!!!

Aussies were the real bazballers, they had ability to absorb the pressure and punch back.

They had bowling to take 20 wickets.

WI in 1980s also had that ability to absorb pressure and punch back .

They had bowling attack to dominate other teams.

These poms have nether bowling or batting.

Bazball is similar term Ind team has been using -"Process" for a v.long time. All process and methodologies should have an aim and a goal and their are various ways to achieve the set goals.

Aus had it simple they just wanted to win and have a team which are far dominant that others- They had goal/aim all that behind it they never said or advertise abt it, all they said was 1 more run than opponent team.

Bazball is exciting good for tv and viewers would like to see more of it in test , faster paced cricket no dull session but for Eng they need player who are threat playing that sort of cricket, eg when Hyden was hitting and playing opposition knew he would score a big 100/200 same with Sehwag opposition knew and were scared of what they can do 100s big 100s in no time. But if u play at higher SR and without being able to score big really big then bowling side knows they have a chance and the next batter coming in will be batting with same mentality so they can pick 2/3 quick wkts and Eng is down and out, plus they donot have bowlers who can dominate an wkts other than in Eng.

Bad/sub par scores will not be defended by Eng bowling line ups and other teams with better bowling suite for that condition will get in eventually.
