Some people get thrill out of claiming to be something they are not because it makes them more popular with fans.

So mayank could just be sayings things like he is a vegetarian to Garner attention as people would gravitate towards the fact that someone has managed to achieve the impossible despite lacking in terms of diet as vegetarian diets generally aren't ideal for sports.

To, you are his chaddi dost to know all this!

Wasn't Srinath a vegetarian?

Zak is a meat eater, he was a trundler in comparison to Srinath.

All his life Srinath was a vegetarian. Once he was bowling past 150s in mid-90s , he was recommended to eat meat to sustain the pace. He started eating chicken later. There is no natural pace for vegetarians or non-vegetarians. It is all natural strength they are gifted with.

He was definitely not vegan . Saala makkhan chor. He was a kshtriya (Yadavs were UCs then and became OBCs now) , so would/could have eaten meat. Certainly not a beef eater as he was a gwal  by his adopted father’s profession. (Cowherd). No mention of his eat-habits in the Vyasbharata , but going by his childhood days  practices, certainly wouldn’t have have eaten meat .

But whey is superior. Even meat eaters depend on it.

Whey is a supplement, not normal food. You need to grow up on protein rich food right from childhood to be strong, supplements etc will come later to reach optimum strength and add on top of diet after you already have a strong normal body .

And best and most efficient source of that is non veg food, not to mention really tasty so you can eat a lot of it.

You don't get full amino acid profile from veg protein sources. Creatine supplement has helped me build muscle mass.

Creatine is an amazing supplement and it's more beneficial with age. It's one of those everyone should take, it's delays aging and is good for both body and brain. The only slight side effect I notice is water bloating.

Djokovic lost two years of his prime(late 2016 till mid '18) because of his turn to vegetarian diet (advised by his guru Pepe Imaz). It reached a crisis point where his coach Vajda refused to train him till he at least started eating fish. During that phase, Djokovic somewhat maintained his stamina, speed with his veg diet but power and depth of groundstrokes was gone.

Luckily good sense prevailed and he went back to eating meat to supplement his plant based diet. Power returned in his game and he hit another peak in 2019-23 in his mind 30s.

Athletes usually have a 5-10 years window (not talking about exceptions) and it is silly to get swayed by fads and idealism like veganism or whatever in that short time period.

You all need to see what vegetarianism did to Siddle's pace, and career.

Our golden boy Neeraj Chopra was a kattar vegetarian till 2016 (World Junior championship). After that when he started training with the best in the world, he turned to eating meat. Now a proper non-veg guy, while his entire family is veg. Biomechanically, fast bowling is closest to javelin.

Is meat necessary or eggs are enough for protein?

Meat is better because it gives the full profile of proteins as well as other important stuff like all B vitamins.

That Netflix documentary Game changers and one other one debunked this by citing studies which proved that this is outdated nutritional advice. It includes this bit about the amino acids which is often cited which also comes from plants much like b12. This is not even going into

Plenty of lacto veg and vegan body builders to go around but supplements help mainly in recovery, not building mass. It's a way to speed up/expedite the process, not necessary in and of itself to achieve it.

Djokovic as of 2023 wimby said he was still vegan and ate fish only occassionally and cut out red meat completely.

100%. Without meat you don't get access to all amino acids.

They can substitute with whey or fake meat all they want but it will never be the same. Sorry. This is truth.

But fish is great source of protein. Eggs too. As long as they get 2 of those it's fine.

Vegetarian athletes no matter what people say are at a huge disadvantage. 100%
