ICC , there is no board. this is a proper ICC tournament everything handled by ICC. This board does not have resources.

 

Usually ICC sends a team that checks the proposed venues by the host board and then they pick and chose depending up various factors - Logistics, Venue conditions, hotels and travels.

 

Hearing teams have to travel 90mins back and forth, no training facility and then pitches and grounds ...

News is that ICC has been trying to flatten the pitches by rolling them extra.  Saw that big roller before the matches.  Let's see if it has any effect. 

 

Wonder if rolling might just be good for initial stages of the match and then gets harder to play later on.

It won't have much affect. Rollers can help even out the surface a bit temporarily but it can't change the nature of the pitch. The NY pitch is seam friendly. Look at the SA-NL game going on right now and we're headed for 3rd double digit 1st innings total. Roll as many rollers as you can but it will continue to help seamers. The pitch needs to be relaid and given a few months to get it to a state where it can be batting friendly.

Yeah agree it will take to settle in.  They're hoping to speed this up or to minimize the erratic behaviour.  This was a rushed live experiment in NYC.  Dallas is a proper ground.  

 

I suppose the idea is to minimize the variable bounce off the same spot i.e one keeps low, other hits the batsman shoulder height.  True b bounce. Early lateral movement is alright, the pitches have bounce so it can still be spicy to keep the batsmen in check. 

The pitches on the edges have been getting better from the first game.  This pitch is one of the middle pitches and has bounce and seaming around.  Let's see what is in store for Ind game

No matter which pitch they use tomorrow, it'll have plenty of seam movement and team winning the toss will have a huge advantage. Pretty bad choice of venue TBH and Florida would have been a better option. Recall a couple of matches we played against WI there and they were pretty high scoring ones. This pitch is a lottery and almost as bad as the Dubai pitch where batting 2nd almost guarantees a win.

Agree, bowling first here has definitely  been advantageous.  Someone like shami here would have wrecked havoc early on with his seam movement

Any seamer here will create a problem. I can very well see Bhuvi having figures of 3/9 bowling on this pitch. You simply need to bowl on good line & length - that's it.

lol tough it out you clowns. these guys are accustomed to playing on  ipl type pitches n minuscule grounds everywhere. 

 

Start wearing a f arm guard and a rib cage guard. Good opportunity for the bowlers to get back at these batters. Break some ribs.
