Rift between Rohit & Shubman Gill ?

Gill is exactly like the same safe, stat padding batsmen who cannot hit big much. Abhishek made an immense impact on his first season of play.

If players like Kohli can play so many IPL and World cups without winning, Abhishek doesnt need to win cups on his first try, its enough he played crucial roles in important wins for his team.

Good to know you found another useless player to hype.

Gill guy looks cocky tho…even though he can become a great…he needs to tone his cockiness and play more domestic cricket… these days he is like walking wicket on lively pitches.

This is bound to happen and youngsters will feel frustrated when they see undeserved players get chances, and performing youngsters being sidelined. When Rohit, whose performances over the last few years doesn't even merit selection, and Kohli getting the chance to open when better openers are either sitting on the sidelines or not selected, this sense of frustration is bound to creep in. It's not as if these TTFs are performing and I dare say any youngster would've performed better. Don't really blame Gill, Ishan or others for feeling frustrated and disillusioned.

Scoring 890 runs and winning IPL player of tournament is also called impact.

Sorry I don't rate likes of Abhishek.Scoring  in some odd innings does not make one a great player. Gill has ability to become a great player.

I will chose guy like Gill over  Abhishek anyday.

We get it you're from Dravid school of thought who'll stick with TTFs - the reason why India has gone without trophy for more than a decade. After all we prefer impactless accumulators (Kohli, KL) etc. over players like Jaiswal, Abhishek who're more like Travis Head.

What you discussed here is the definition of stat padding and having no impact. Because you did not include Sr in the discussion. A 35 ball 50 followed by acceleration to 50 ball 80 is no longer sufficient for two reasons. Every game the acceleration will not happen.  And then the 35 ball 50 hurts the team. Even if the acceleration happens a 20 ball 40 allows other batsmen to use the 30 balls to good effect.

Winning t20 on good batting friendly surface is putting less premium on wickets and hitting out . Our team plays t20 like odis. First two overs see the pitch. Next 4 overs try to score  and get to 50 out of 6 overs or sometimes 60. Then conserve wicket till over 15 and get to 110 for 2 or 3. And then try to score 80 or so in 5 overs. To a score between 170 and 190.

That works in bad pitches like this world cup etc but on true pitches..other teams don't lift their foot off the pedal. It's not that India don't have the ability..they can go for it when opposition sets a 200 plus score

Sounds to me more like Gill was sent home because Jaiswal is already their as back up opener. Strong indication that he will sit out in the super 8s as well. Rest is just based on baseless speculation from a random tweet.

Gill will have a career lesser than Kohli

He's good but too many holes

If he manages to win an ICC trophy, that would be good enough in my books. Already Gill has showed up in that Gabba test, which was better than a lot of stars have played in their entire careers.

That is altogether different thing

ICC trophies have been discussed here zillion times no brainer for most icfers to prefer ICC trophies over random stats

As a player i think Gill gets overrated here
