Jadeja in T20 can't be meritocracy. Rahane was another one who cost us 2016 T20 WC with his 40 (35) on the Wankhede patta.

Jadeja was in good form in the IPL in 2015/2016. He plays well in India.

 

I don't know/remember about Rahane. But what has Dhoni to do with his selection?

Not sure why people are blaming players, it's the system not the players,  sooper star culture is why we have talents like jaiswal and Abhishek at same time it delays their chances. We can't have it both ways.

While Dhoni was an amazing white ball captain...he had one problem of sticking to his decisions no matter what. If he likes someone he will stick to it despite multiple failures. He wasn't this inflexible earlier but after 2011 WC he became too rigid with his thought process.

 

Though it has brought a lot of success for him in IPL, in international cricket this theory hasn't worked for us from quite some time. Either our players aren't good enough, or can't keep themselves motivated.

 

Dhoni, Kohli and now Rohit too follows same formula, don't change unless it's broken. I doubt if we plan our XI based on the opposition and instead stick to same team no matter what the conditions are.
