R!TTER Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 The only thing you serve is what you work for, if they do well enough in the finals they deserve to win. Nothing more nothing less MK55 and ravishingravi 2
The Hound Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) Yes. Pretty sure an unchanged team will play in the final though. They'll give reason that Barbados is a better batting wicket and Dube will come good. Edited June 27, 2024 by The Hound

Norman Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Don't jump on me but Kohli deserves it more than them to be honest. Think about it...he carried us in 2014,2016 amd 2022 and it's the only white ball ICC trophy he hasn't won. It's fitting if he ends up winning it after being a burden to the team. cricketfan28, Lord, AuxiliA and 2 others 1 1 3

He has taken more than his pound of flesh too. He's been holding this team back. Imagine Jaiswal going after the bowling along with Rohit.
StraightDrive26 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 The final mostly is going to be the last T20 game for both Rohit and Virat. They aren't going to play after this, so lets hold our horses. You will see Rinku, Jaiswal and others for another 10-15 years, so you have lots of time to raise similar scathing threads for them as well.

He's supposed to be a "spin hitter" and couldn't even do that. Against SA, he'll like a fish out of water.

He will suck against pace SA has so many pace options that they can very well not bowl their spinners against Dube. Also, it's not as if Dube has been hammering spinners. He hasn't been able to do much against spinners either in other matches. He just has one shot - slog over mid-wicket on the leg side. He can't rotate strike or find gaps. Just one hoick on the leg side, and chances are Shamsi and Maharaj will bowl well outside off to avoid his predictable hitting arc So even if he manages to face spinners, I doubt he'll succeed. Our best bet is to get Jaiswal in place of Dube. Open with Jaiswal and push Kohli to 3.

I doubt Kohli will give up his opening spot Samson is not a no. 5 or 6 batter. Check out his stats when he bats lower than 3. Samson's best position is in the top order and if he can't bat there, no point pushing him in the lower order. Rinku was the perfect player in the lower order for us. Since he's not there the best option is to play Jaiswal as opener and push everyone else down by a spot. IMO team management needs to move Kohli to no. 3 impressing on him the fact that it's his last chance to win a tourney and he should bat at his best position. In fact if Kohli bats at 3, scores some runs (which he's more likely at 3), and India wins, he'll be treated as a hero citing the "sacrifice" he had to make to move down to no. 3 spot for the sake of the team. Just one last game and I hope we go with our best combination which has Jaiswal in the team and Kohli at 3. If Kohli doesn't go down to 3, Marco Jansen is quite likely to get him out in his first couple of overs. neel roy 1

It's either Samson or Dube in the middle, likely at 5. They won't make any other big changes in the final. Even leaving out Dube is highly unlikely. If anything, the only reason is if TM realizes that he is very likely to fail against pacers.
cpct Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 No Rohit Sharma don't deserve to win any trophy because due to this he and Kohli will play for 5-6 years more and any talented youngster won't get any chance.
Sgattick10 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Yes I hope so. Rohit has played selflessly entire tournament and Bumrah is such a champ with wickets and economy. Also last chance for Rohit, Virat to win a WC Let's gooo

He's simply not an intl player as his first stint in intl cricket showed. And they went with Dube ahead of Rinku! That's a classic case of "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush". They finally found a proven lower order batsman (average of 89 with a SR of 176 over 15 matches!) and went with Dube when there was absolutely nothing wrong with Rinku's game. It should never have been Rinku vs Dube, and was more a situation of Dube after Rinku. bowl_out 1
putrevus Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 So now we go from why are openers in the team to Rohit deserves the cup.

Rohit Sharma as a 19 year old won the t20 wc final against talented pakistan by scoring a 16 ball 30. So its all right.. dont worry cpct
G_B_ Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Nobody deserves anything. If trophies were given on deserve SA would have multiple trophies. Nz who reached so many finals the last 15 years would be the leading winners of cricket.

The intent and the change in approach he has shown in 2023 WC and here has been amazing, and quite frankly selfless. He could've pottered around and probably scored a lot more runs in both the ODI WC and here, but he has been extremely selfless. The takedown of Aus and Eng and knocking out both of them has been exceptional. Didn't think he had it in him after the WC 2023 and so glad to be proven wrong. If any captain deserves a cup for leading the side and paving the way, it's Rohit. Kron 1
