singhvivek141 Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Given the fact that Rohit has retired from T20's, and may do the same from ODI's & Tests next year after CT & WTC respectively. It will be challenge now for the new coach & selectors on who they're going to appoint as a captain and how they're going to manage the teams across formats. India usually is not known for split captaincy, but looking at the various options right, it may be something which can happen, as except Jaiswal I don't see any other batter at the moment who will play all 3 formats at consistent basis and do well there. In T20's I foresee the captaincy going in Pandya's hands as he will only play that format. Temporarily the VC may go to SKY. ODI's, maybe Gill can become the next VC and take over the mantle once Rohit retires. Jaiswal is also an option. Tests, I would Ideally like Bumrah to be the captain as he will probably play this format regularly. Gill or Jaiswal can be his deputy.

Don't want Bumrah to be the captain as we want to save him as much as possible. If he's captain then he'll need to play much more. He needs to be saved to extend his longevity

He is inclined more towards T20's and ODI's may have an impact on his workload as there he may have to bowl 7-8 overs. Tests I have accepted the fate that he may never play. What do you guys think of Shreyas, he is a wild card but with recent success in IPL, he may find himself in favour. Plus his ODI stats are good too.
