Hockey clubs dont pay much .in fact there is no pay for most hockey players from their clubs you have to get jobs and then play .

One thing I notice about Netherlands though, they run their cricket team and board more professionally than Pakistan. They are minnows and have lack of talent but they always somehow compete and stick out every tournament. Every World Cup they have some takeaway.

No they dont ,some guys are contracted the vast majority are not paid.Only Ned have enough players to even have  proper club teams.Belgium is also improving.

1. Toor's best of 21.77m gets him to 2-3-4 position in last 4 Olympics finals. Toor, sable, Aldrin, annu rani are let's say 1/8 chances medals each on average.

The chances of atleast 1 medal here are 1 - (7^4)/(8^4) = 0.42 or 42%

 

2. Jena imho is 50% medal prospect. I have given my reasons and you n I disagree. Disagreement is fine.

 

3. Neeraj is 70% medal prospect.

 

4. 4*400 is let's say 1/3 (=33%) medal prospect.

 

As I said, 2 medals I find realistic average case scenario based on above. 1 medal would be an under-achievement, 3 medals and over-achievement.

He was visiting prof. at my institute and loved talking hockey, his whole family was into the sport including his wife, more than football. During their visits to India his daughter would play hockey at the institute's Gymkhana ground with boys 10 years older than her, she was a water polo player as well. Goras are incredibly sporty, their Olympic success isn't from thin air.

It is quite fascinating really, how they make a sport part of their lives along with a primary job. The fact they are rich and secure helps, but the culture of chasing excellence in a methodological way is quite incredible.

Even their 50-60 year olds, senior citizens keep themselves engaged via cycling, swimming, jogging, hiking. Physically very active, part of their lifestyle, especially Europeans. 

 

Most of our people can't think beyond going out to a restaurant, mall or cinema. That is the Indian definition of having fun. Very sedentary lifestyle.

Barmy Army after the Dharamsala test went hiking to nearby places like Mcleodgunj, for a week. Atherton joined them and talked about it with Nasser on the Sky podcast, they had planned it months before. 

 

Where do you think Indian tourists to UK spend most of their time? Scottish hills, no way? Even in the tougher treks in India, goras will outnumber our own.

They have both physical and mental ability ,here people can barely survive in increasingly demanding conditions .

 

Also india is a shitty place not ideal for outdoor activity ,maybe there are certain places which the british called hill stations where they used to retreat ,That's why they like dharmashala over our bigger cities.

Bruh, WTF are you talking about? The bronze medallist in Tokyo threw 22.47 in the final. Even at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, bronze medal throws in the final were 22.29 and 22.12. Toor's best of 21.77 would put him around 6th-7th. Look at Toor's performance in all major events, he throws between 20 and 21. He is nowhere close to the podium.

Aldrin jumped 7.77 at the World Championships last year where the gold and silver medallists jumped 8.52 and 8.50. He has been jumping 7.7 to 8.0 this whole year. His optimistic range at the Olympics would be between 8.1 to 8.2. It's easy to create national records in local events aided by local officials. I've been following Indian athletics long enough to know how reliable those personal bests are.

Annu Rani's best outcome would be just to qualify for the final. All these guys have a 1/100 chance at winning a medal, not 1/8.
