It's a well deserved win for Nadeem, as long as they celebrate gracefully. We celebrated Neerajs win big too and some Indians mocked Nadeem including media. They were trying to make it india pakistan but neeraj was very graceful

Yes I felt exactly the same way and have never seen any politician or businessman or actor overshadowing any sportsperson in any ad for Olympic before. Politicians have tried taking credit etc but not in such an obvious way. 

 

Are you such a slave now you are ok with businessmen overshadowing athelete in Olympic ads? You want every Indian to have slave mentality like your and accept this as normal? 

 

And please reply, if Kohlis wife was front and center in ads for world cup cricket and cricketers behind would you be ok? We all know what the reaction would be.

I’d focus on the athletes. Not superficial stuff like who appears on Ads.  Olympics is streamed on JioCinema owned by Ambani. Of course, they will milk it.  Watch it on DD Sports.

You are looking it the wrong way...

 

1. 117 athletes qualifying for Olympics is a big deal and means overall standard is getting better.

2. This seemed like a disappointing Olympics and we still managed 5-6 medals. If things would've gone to plan we would've ended with lots more.

3. We had rotten luck with a Gold slipping through our fingers with Vinesh fiasco, and we had a host of 4th place finishes. If Vinesh gets that Gold and even 30-40% of 4th place finishes end up in Bronze, we have our best Olympics results ever.

 

This shows we're making progress and if we continue on this trend and govt keeps on backing sportspersons, India's bound to improve and get even better.

Not realistically. This is the first time an Indian team has reached finals of 4x400 relay event. Their best ever performance is also far away from the top contenders. US, Jamaica and other teams are gonna be ahead. If we end up in top 4 that itself would be an amazing result.

Indian team's best (Asian record) is 2:59:05... This timing is position 2nd to 8th in previous 5 Olympics.

They rely on hail mary events. That way, they'll have more losses than wins.

 

Won't change the status of their country/economy.

 

In a way it is good.

 

They know what an Olympic medal feels like. Will hurt more during their inevitable drought.

Yup but the top teams have much better times. Realistically they'll need to have a time of 2:57 or thereabouts to get on the podium. At the very least they'll need to better their personal best to stand a chance.

 

I'm looking forward to the 4x400 final but not expecting a medal.
