So the field is shallow, if we invest it is much easier to break through and medal. There is a reason why we did so well in Tokyo, China here, Ireland being runners up in women's WC in 2018. Same Ireland which didn't qualify to this Olympics. 

No one cares about women's hockey in general yes.

This the first hindu heritage athlete representing GB in olympics in a long time- irony is that he is gujarati.

 

So in an nutshell its not that we dont have the body structure or physical attributes to succeed in sports like diving or cycling or swimming- its about targetted training programmes and access to infrastructure and facilities

Who said we don't have physical traits lmao. We have e plenty. We have a very diverse gene pool. Plenty of athletic strong people out there. 

 

Our selection process and facilities are rubbish though. Corrupt system.

saying that... this guy is 17th out of 18 divers in the 10m diving right now. Team GB is getting indian KPLD vibes

Real disappointments are desis settled in west, have all top facilities, infrastructure, clean air, quality food/water etc. yet absolutely zero in sports. East and SE Asians, Arabs, Africans have made great strides in sports there but not our people. What exactly do brown people in those countries do? Even in research, academics they will be outnumbered 50:1 by the Chinese.

Needs to stem from the top. Parents need to push their kids. They don't promote sports like parents of other ethnicities do. Including Chinese. Chinese oarenrs and korean parents encourage sport from a young age. Archery is subsidised by government there. It's the simple truth. 

 

Most Indian parents want them to focus only on their career not sport. 

 

They only like to show off by saying my child is an all rounder to make it seem like they are good at everything. Sport is always secondary. 

 

Mindset needs to change first. Then we can talk about. Medals. We have plenty of individuals with physical traits etc. Parents first need to consider sport as a viable option for their kids and not just encourage education.
