And the thing is he's not even "begging" BCCI but ICC. If you want more money ask BCCI. What is ICC going to do about it? Probably still feels it's beneath him to beg India directly and going for this indirect begging route via ICC.

Lara was outspoken and  came off little arrogant but because of the mutual respect he had for Sachin, you will notice most hardcore Sachin Bhakts are even huge fans of Lara and he is maybe 1.5 not even 2nd fav for many.

 

However I have heard stories from previous generations how racist the WI team of the 70s and 80s were towards Indians. You can still see that animosity from Michael Holding, Lloyd etc. They probably respected Gavaskar just like maybe Indian team respects Sikandar Raza or Shakib in the context of their teams.

I think there is a lot of animosity  among blacks and Indian origin folk in WI too.

 

Sir Sobers and Viv are exceptions but that’s probably they got a lot of non-platonic  “love” from India.

 

 

 

 

 

Despite Indian origin folk being 40-45% of the population in some of the Caribbean islands, they have just a token presence in the WI team. After losing the 1983 WC final, the WI didn't select any Indian origin player for the next 11 years. More recently, Shiv Chanderpaul was denied a farewell series which would have given him opportunity to go past Lara as the highest run getter for the WI in test cricket. The man in charge was fellow Guyanese Clive Lloyd.

At least this sport can earn it's own money thanks to India. Otherwise it would be just another Hockey, running on govt supported programmes.

I agree with Llyod.

We need to resolve the inequality.

ICC should cut the amount of revenue it's giving to CA, ECB, PCB and distribute it to Carribean Islands, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Scotland and other associate nations.

 

BCCI being the major revenue generator should be paid in proportion to the amount it's generating.
