What is this recent hate against India/Indians on Twitter/SM

Last few months my tl in twitter is filled with india hate by all nationalists mainly westerners. Is this recent phenomena or ongoing? I mean I've been on Twitter for last 10 yrs now, never seen this kinda negative bs about Indians. I thought maybe it's cos of algorithm cos I clicked on couple of them. But seen a lot of Indians talking about it. Some are saying it's cos of India's stance against Ukraine and pro palestine. Others saying it's the white supremacist hating on Indians cos of Kamala Harris, rest about immigration. Is it the sum total of all this or some thing else.

I have never been outside India, ppl who live abroad can bring more light on this.

Some egs...

The comments are super nasty..

I don’t follow X much now. But many (may be less as a percentage but huge as a number) Indians themselves have been nasty on it (and on social media in general).

IIRC, I had written that many in India dump their mental garbage on social media (and physical garbage on streets). If such a trend continues, I had said, it would only be a matter of time before India begins to lose respect, exposing its “weak areas”. Social media is a double edged sword.

Anti Indian sentiment is at an all time high in the west due to mass immigration and people playing the system. Also because Indians are culturally and visibly vastly different from the average westerner so there’s always been a racial bias against Indians like there was against East Asians and brown Latinos, it’s just that there has been a huge influx of Indians in America as well as other western countries so it’s an easier target and the fact that Indians have radically different social norms and cultural traits than other communities, it makes them stand out more.

What also doesn’t help Indians is that for the past 20+ years they actively tried to support the far right in the west, attempting to be an accessory to the anti-Muslim/Islamophobia lobby and inevitably, those groups have turned against Indians. I don’t see this anti Indian sentiment relenting anytime soon.

Also this. GOI need to step up.

So if an Indian person sets up a Chinese (or Italian) restaurant in India or elsewhere, would Chinese (or Italian) govt need to step up too?

IMO, that is another dumb tweet that is advertising the relative “brainlessness” in India.

No, you idiot. Indians are the richest immigrant population in the west and are involved in zero crimes. They are richer than Koreans and Jews. India is the fastest growing economy and is currently at #5 in terms of GDP , stepping on the moon and orbiting mars. Hence the hate.

That is not accurate. Indians are involved in a variety of crimes much like any other community.

Crimes involve violence, insurance frauds, tax frauds, cheating, immigration frauds, money laundering, drugs, etc.

An example:

It’s a figure of speech. It is very low percentage compared to other ethnic groups .

Not necessarily in Canada, where I see a lot of criminals and people who act brazenly:

There are gangs operating that ask for “hafta” as well.

Yes, Punjabi gangs are notorious in Kaneda. Some of these are connected to Khalistani who don’t consider themselves to be from India.

On one hand, countries like Canada make people go to extreme lengths to get immigration. On the other hand, these criminals (including from Pakistani military establishment) come to these countries without issues.

These countries are not what they used to be because of their own policies (and greed to acquire immigrants’ $$$).

I guess it is due to Kamala Harris running for president. It will die down if Trump wins the elections. Even the Canadian outrage against immigration will substantially die down after elections. Mind you there will still be plenty of  casual racists but not to this extent.

It depends on your browsing algorithms that feed into X timeline. I get more of anti-BJP, pro-Congress content in my TL. Hardly see any hatred against India. Even some come which is not out of the ordinary. I guess it is different for each. I didn’t believe it until this thread was open. The extreme RW floodgates opening has gotten the filth out.  Some filth is from p@ki handles masquerading as goras and say such racist  anti-India stuff.

Yes it could be due to the algorithms as well. This is election year and it's not a surprise we are seeing so much racism across all the social media sites. It happens all the time.
