^^ you are right. Dravid has featured only in 2 finals Indian won In 333 matches finals won :- Matches - 2 , Runs - 36, Average - 18, Strike Rate - 67.92 on the other hand SRT in finals won 15 matches, 1099 runs, highest 134, Average 99.90 , Centuries 5 Yet people say SRT is not a big game player and Dravid is?

why only include finals.. some of the crucial games in 5 match odi series such as when team is down from 2-1, and u need someone to play some good decent knock to level the series and stuff, then dravid has stood for the team many times. i am not saying that dravid is better then tendulkar or tendulkar is better then dravid, infact we all should just don't give a damn about such topics or compare the two always.

Taking a closer look at those stats - all but three of the SRT innings came on or before 1998 - and hardly anyone will question that SRT of that was possibly the greatest ODI batsman of all time. After that we have three innings in the last 10 years - one at Lord's 2002, and two in the WSC this year. RSD played his two finals in v SAF 1996 and Lord's 2002. In 1996, he scored 31, SRT 67; in 2002 - he made 5 and Tendulkar 14. What can you decide with a sample like that ?

To be honest, post 2000 era. NONE of our Indian PLAYERS (leave alone batsmen) have been reliable in the finals. And this is the sole reason why we have kept sh*tting in the finals.

When they say Dravid is a big game player, they are talking about TEST CRICKET. Sachin has scored so many big scores in test, yet none of them actually resulted in an overseas test victory. It's NOT his fault at all, because somehow whenever he scored, the team let him down. For example, he scored 2 150+ scores in the recent test series against Australia, and we lost one and drew one of those. But in almost all overseas test wins in last 10 years, Dravid had a much bigger role to play. Also, please don't bring in the South Indian-North Indian crap here. Thats hitting WAY below the belt. Because Sachin is no North Indian, if you know any geography :-P

They said Sachin succumbs to pressure in big finals. The 2008 CB series changed all that. That 100 in the first final is master-piece beyond equal. The measured aggression, unflinching discipline and the fantastic way in which he timed and crafted that knock is now part of folklore. It was possibly the best knock in a big final since Gilly's 100 in the final of WC '07. I shudder to even think about how monstrous our batting line-up will look, once Sachin is back. EVERY man, from no.1 to no.7, is a match-winner in his own right. The only question is, who will go once Sachin is fit? Raina or Yusuf Pathan? With regards to the OP, Dravid hasnt done much in finals of LOIs, not that he has had too many chances to do so.

even my miniscule cricket knowledge is adequate to reason beyond doubt that sachin in finals is absolute aces! and especially after the CB series finals, i would have to say that this debate has been conclusively settled. For all of asia, and with the exception of Ricky Ponting and Herschell Gibbs, Sachin Tendulkar is the finest batsman in finals or other powderkegs...
