'Jurel should play over Pant in Australia'

Don't recall anyone suggesting that on ICF.   (Except maybe for one poster).

A lot of posters (incl me) had suggested Jurel to play in place of pant in this home series.

Most have suggested playing Sarfaraz over Kohli and Jurel over KL Rahul. Pant isn't a problem in Tests. Tests is Pant's favorite format but he shouldn't be a starter in T20s.

Yeah and I don't think Pant really cares about International T20s anymore after the WC win. He can focus on Tests and ODIs

Thats equally retarded. Dude averages 66 at home and you want to kill his confidence by dropping him right when he is making his comeback? For someone who has played ONE single series at home?

Imagine this brain dead logic. We need Pant in Australia so lets destroy his confidence by dropping him at home for Jurel. I  am sorry but some of you are really, really dumb.

There is another home series vs NZ.      I never said pant should be dropped from every home series till the Aus tour.    Moreover, the Aus tour has 5 tests, which is way too long.  Chances of injury (especially for a WK who has returned to intl arena after a long break) are high.  We need a decent backup WK in case Pant gets injured.                  It seems you want to destroy the confidence of a match winner newbie in Jurel (who singlehandedly won us 2 consecutive tests against Eng from losing position) by dropping him.    If anyone is dumb, it's you.

A backup keeper is always needed in every test side so it makes sense for Jurel to be in the mix. However, Pant is clearly the first choice and his performance backs it up. The way to keep Jurel ready s the same as with any other player. He should play Ranji and first class cricket to keep his hand in.  Pant has 2 years off cricket and he needs to play test match cricket as much as possible before Australia given the limited games available in the format pre BGT. He can be rested from T20s/ODIs to manage his workload. Jurel and Pant are competing for the same position in the team and like it or not, Pant will currently take precedence based on his performance and his record. Jurel either has to try to make a case as a pure batsman or await his turn if Pant is unavailable. In the former case, his competition will also be tough.

Jurel can play instead of a million other players instead of our best test bat.

Again asking our best test bat to be dropped, particularly when he needs as much practice and confidence in the middle, both with the bat and glove, is retarded.

If they followed your logic, Jurel will get more match practice than Pant, particularly since Jurel has been playing domestics for 2 years when Pant was out

Imagine your back up keeper getting more match practice than your main one
