Sarfaraz has a much stronger claim to a pure batting spot. He's put up mountains of runs in domestic cricket over many years and has also done well in the few international matches he's had a chance to play. Jurel will have to compete and earn his place against tougher competition with Pant back and playing near his usual (high) level. When Jurel made his debut he was only competing with a hapless KS Bharath.

We have to find replacements for Kohli and Rohit as well. There is ample space for everyone in the team, except Rahul. Lord, express bowling, Vk1 and 1 other 4

He has performed whenever he has been given a chance. The only way to tell if his game will work on Australian pitches is to try him whenever a place becomes available. Currently there isn't a place available with Kohli,KL and Pant back so he is sitting out. The same holds for Jurel who has also never been tested in fast bouncy conditions either. If Jurel has to break into the team as a first choice batter his competition will be tough but he has a chance if he puts up performances in red ball FC matches. It doesn't look like he is anywhere close to threatening Pant in the keeper/batsman role.

cowboysfan Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 imo his schedule should be carefully monitored till the BGT is over,9 more Tests to go and he needs to play all of them and that means no T20s or ODIs. BacktoCricaddict 1

Because he plays so well everywhere and is undroppable To give a context, kohli is in the worst test form of his life for the past 5 years. And in that worst period he averages the same as KLs career average Edited September 22, 2024 by New guy

nevada Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 It's great to see Pant make a memorable come back with a valuable century! For him to play a test match is itself a great achievement given how badly injured he was. Hope he continues to entertain fans with many more clutch knocks and memorable wins!
