Number Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Terrible loss, didn't expect this. Sure Aussies are favorites for the tournament but we have been 2nd best team for very long and Asia Cup final and performances like this show we are regressing badly. BCCI does so much PR that they're doing so much for women's cricket blah blah, but can't hire some good selectors, coaching and management staff who can work on areas of improvement. "Indian only" coaching staff works with men's team where skill wise we are more or less at the top but here we need continuous improvements in all areas. nitinbwj, AuxiliA and Norman 2 1

Plus in must win matches, they crumble like Indian Men's team of the past decade. No we didn't, most the forum & pretty much all Indian fans were gung ho on India beating Oz last year! If we hadn't tampered with the pitch we'd have a much better chance at winning as well, WTC is BS so don't need to go there. nitinbwj 1

We should've won the CT2017 as well and probably WT20 in 2016. But we didn't win. Once is unlucky, twice co-incidence. But failing multiple times for more than a decade means we weren't good enough. I blame selectors for continuing with the same top heavy, RCB like approach but it is what it is. nitinbwj 1

Daylight ......... More Daylight ......... 3. Ind, NZ, SA, WI 4. Pak, SL, B'desh There's a reason India hasn't won any tourney barring Asia Cup. Indian women team suck big time. They're unathletic, mentally fragile, lack power game, poor fielders, and are not built to play sports in general. We still have Smriti Mandhana plod around and waste PP overs. Harmanpreet hasn't done anything in ages, Jemimah and Shafali Verma are good only in ads, middle order lacks hitting power (actually even the top order does), and the tail can't hold the bat. Essentially just like how our Men's T20 team used to be under Kohli - in fact even worse. Today is the first time I watched Indian women's team play for more than 2 overs. I wasn't expecting a lot. Yet I felt substantially underwhelmed. I've seen middle school boys teams play better cricket. nitinbwj 1

You will see more girls taking up cricket as a serious career. So i am going to cut some slack there. It is like Pakistan side. When you don't have enough talent cutting incentives, reducing salaries will be counter productive. Your focus should be on expanding the search for talent. But on the men's side we have surplus of talent. I'm not asking for reducing salaries. I'm simply saying no matter what cricinfo or media states, Indian Women team isn't that great. We're in the same category as many other teams and behind Aus & Eng, and are unlikely to win a tourney soon. I'm disappointed with the Men's team a lot more as they've no excuse. They've all the resources along with enough talent. No reason for them to fail continually.

Yet I felt substantially underwhelmed. I've seen middle school boys teams play better cricket. I saw the reality a couple of years ago. The fast bowlers are absolutely useless and TBH I wouldn't even play them. They've no control or pace. They simply bowl dollies. Lack of power-hitters. Harmanpreet plays an innings once every few months. Shefali and Jemima have been backed forever but haven't shown up at the crunch, and Smriti Mandhana is not a T20 player. Overall, we suck big time. We can beat other Asian teams most of the time. And against WI, SA, NZ we win approximately 50% of the matches, and we lose to Aussies and Eng most of the times. IMO people are disappointed as they buy into the media hype. If you listen to media they project India as the favorite and as if Aussies are the only team between us and the title. In reality they would do well to go beyond SF, and I don't expect them to get past Eng or Aus. Now you've seen them play, you'll keep your expectations in check. nitinbwj 1

It's fundamentally inferior & like I said almost like watching men's game in slow mo, our team is also dog shite!

The difference is that Women's team doesn't disappoint me as I know their ceiling and don't expect them to get past either Eng or Aus. But Men's team have every advantage handed to them - right from resources, money, coaches etc. - and they kept on letting us down.
R!TTER Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 So the solution is low/no expectations? As for men's team they also don't have that big of an advantage, take the IPL out & there's no way you can say an avg Indian player gets more resources before he plays for India! We're still physically inferior to most Anglo teams. So where is the advantage, just IPL?
jigjig Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Hello guys, Very poor from the ladies. NZ look good.

It was the same pitch that was used against Pakistan. It was slow then too. Pakistan crumbled to 190 odd after a good start. What went wrong was losing the toss. Team bowling first had clear advantage. Dew made chasing easier. Even 300 would have been chased. Frustrated and AuxiliA 2
R!TTER Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 We've seen better pitches at the same venue 6 months back, you're saying we couldn't have made it better for batting in first innings? Or was this the plan from ICC all along i.e. final was rigged?
AuxiliA Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Our women cricket hasn't recovered from the retirement of pacers Jhulan Goswami and Shikha Pandey. Both of them were world class. Our current pace attack is nowhere near the the level of a top 3 team. Renuka is women's version of Bhuvi (minus his batting). During the the 2017-22 period, we were genuinely the 2nd best team after Aus, better than England, NZ & SA. Shame we chocked away 2 important trophies (WC F vs Eng & Commonwealth F vs Aus) from winning positions in that period. Golden opportunity lost twice! Tillu 1
vvvslaxman Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 If India has to get ahead and overcome the power game and fielding of Aus/Eng/NZ they need to collectively get better. And also they will need to invest in more leg spinners, mystery spinners. You have to come up with a bowling arsenal that these teams don't have. Right now anytype of bowling you have they have better version. Cannot bank on outbatting opposition every time.

The "grip" in the surface was completely lost after 1st 10 overs of Australia's innings. After suffering for similar reasons in Dubai and Adelaide, we had a golden chance to make a good surface ourselves and ended up making a lottery pitch which was dependent on the toss.

And like I said did no one thought of putting some extra grass in there, to make it better for batting? Or were they scared of Cummins & Co as well I don't think for a sec that the playing conditions were fair but *ing god damnit this is the BCCI, what was Junior Shah & his fat * father doing Ultimate_Game and Nikhil_cric 1 1

Frustrated Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Boring one sided game. Aus will thrash SL and chase this inside 13 overs. nitinbwj 1
