yes but that’s true even today

best batsman from India is Kohli who averages 38 outside of 2016-2019.

even his peak coincided with peak of Steve smith and I don’t need to look at stats to know who was better .

I actually am in camp that we overrate our players but Sachin had 2 spells where was best imo .

you can check my post history and you will know I am no fanboy but he was easily the best batsman India ever produced in tests.

Yes Sachin is best test batsman from India. There is no question about it.

Odis he is not best.

Kohli's real black mark is his test record outside the 2015-19 phase, average of 33-34 IIRC. 4-5 years of peak phase is too less.....even Amla and Younis had 7-8 years stretches where they were top tier.

Hope he corrects it from here on, needs two more good years where he averages 50 at least.

I don't think he is ever going to correct it.Other than him being lot older than  his real age, what happened to him has no explanation.

You cannot go missing for that long in your peak years.Test cricket always has been his weakest format.

The application, determination, intent he showed in RSA last year...if he can do that he will have bumper series in Australia. His major problem these days is game against spin, and perhaps lack of interest/motivation.

5 tests in Aus, 5 in Eng, can go a long way in defining his legacy. I am still optimistic, just hope he hasn't mentally checked out......his body language against BD wasn't good IMO.

yeah hope he makes a good run like in the 23 wc.

he has always been good against pace and bounce. even sa 2022 tour he was decent.

his weakness has been swing and nowadays spin.

hopefully he does well against nz at home and gets 1-2 100s so can go into those 10 (11 including WTC final) with something behind him.

He is paying for playing nonstop cricket in all formats for a decade and he was a lone ranger for team with such high expectations.I think his mind and body have given up on him.

He had a great career nothing to be ashamed of his career. For a guy with so many issues in his technique he has done lot more than his talent should have taken him.

Australian series should be his last hurrah and then he can ride into sunset.

Hope this bunch (which includes 35+ guys like Kohli, Rohit, Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami) wins WTC final. Great test team since 2015, will be unfair if they don't have this prize.....just because of stupid venue selection and proximity to IPL, we got shafted twice.

He has lost trust in his back foot game which was not great to begin with and has become a plonker against spinners.

Lyon will not make it easy in Australia for him.

I hope he does well in Australia too.

Lyon has declined, in fact even their pace trio isn't as deadly as it was in 2018 or '20.

More worried about their batting, guys like Head, Labu, Green, Marsh, Carey are in great form (also peak age), and have reliable oldies like Khawaja and Smith as well.

Green is out of the series, main threat is Head

Others if we bowl and plan like last time can be neutralized

Head is real danger,he hits the morale of opposition need to counter him on that

Pepper him with rib cage bouncers in between

Siraj will be devoured for sure, need to drop him first

Fab 4 coincided their career with flattest tracks in history of game and easier bowling attacks.

They always faced weak Australian attack at home bar 2004 when they promptly lost that series. Away they were never great in any test series against any attack.

It was Sehwag who was king in Asia which made them look decent in Pakistan and SL.

What great bowling attack are you talking about? There's obviously only one - the best from WI, which had 4 near ATG bowlers although not all at their peak. Most others had at most 2 ATG & a few support cast, even then he faced W/W & Imran & Co in Pak albeit on flat surfaces. Find me an attack better than what Oz fielded in 2001 or 2004 against us! You're obviously making BS up to needlessly elevate you know who! His best series vs Eng, 2016 at home, had the flattest of roads on all 5 tests & 2 part time spinners leading the attack

His best in Eng, although good, was on the back of about half a dozen drops by Eng * when it came to chasing even smallish totals he failed every *ing time! Even SS best series in Eng had Anderson missing, you keep talking BS about great series & what not but you need to have flat pitches/poor opposition for that! There isn't one series you can find where one batter scored 500+ plus & the rest of the chumps did not go above 200, from either side :whack2:

Cricket Records in West Indies in Sri Lanka Test Series, 2001/02

I don't need to, also this BS about Lara scoring 600 odd runs on some of the flattest decks in Asia needs to die down FFS Hashan had an avg of 400+ over 3 tests  :bebored:

Bhai, Green will play as batter.

Border Gavaskar Trophy series: Cameron Green likely to feature as pure batter

Quote

Cameron Green is expected to be available as a batter when Australia faces India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting next month, though his bowling might be restricted until the later stages of the five-Test series.

SL had peak Murali, WI had who?

More than pitches being flat, WI bowling being a joke was the issue.

Even Pujara, Rahane, Ishant.

Should have won 21 but that was so stacked in favour of NZ.

23 Bumrah/Pant was injured

Kohli, Rohit, Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami, Pujara, Rahane, Ishant, Umesh with Bhuvi, Vijay, Dhawan were the first wave. Got in post the sachin generation

Bumrah, Pant, Siraj, Kuldeep, Axar, KLR, Hardik, Gill, Sundar next wave. (KLR in between)

Head has been made into Bradman by our bowlers, he is a guy with lot technical issues.I hope they worked on his weaknesses.I would be tempted to play Ashwin in first couple of tests irespective of the wickets.

He did a great job against Smith last time. Ashwin has become better spinner as he has aged and our pace attack other than Bumrah does not inspire any confidence. We might as well play Ashwin.

Rohit Sharma has been captaining and playing all cozy home tests .Let us see if he is as a great as Mr.Gavaskar is making him out to be.
