True.

Smith had insane hand-eye coordination, and hunger for runs.

Kohli had insane drive, fitness, work ethic.

Kane mama has technique and 200 IQ.

None as talented as Root. Complete batsman.

Smith still the best.

BGT 2017 and Ashes 2019 - great series against good bowling lineups on spicy pitches.

Kohli has 2 in SA 2018 and Eng 2018

Not even in Eng - 2018 series first test was won by Curran, second by Woakes, fourth by Bhai & last one by Cook. 2021 series as well he didn't have a winning contribution I guess except last test? In India he has just one big score in a win at Chennai batting first - so yes vastly overrated.

Winning isn't the thing.

Winning is a team game.

Smith didn't win 2017 BGT or 2019 Ashes. Kohli didn't win in 2018 SA or Eng.

His 2021-22 series against Ind was great. 2018 he was poor.

In India he has statpadded a bit.

He doesn't have that monster away series in Aus or Ind that Kohli had in Eng 2018 or Smith had in 2017 and 2019. But he is very consistent against almost everyone. Very Sachin like in that manner.

If you dissect like that, even Sachin will have very few winning contributions.

Brook vs Jaiswal is the next Sachin vs Lara.

Add in Rachin, Kamindu and we might have an even better Big 4.

I think Gill is good too although he might be more of an accumulator type.

He goes missing on difficult pitches - that's the point. You can't claim he's doing consistently well when he consistently goes missing on bad-ish pitches! Do you remember his scores post that double in Chennai? He avg sub 20 after that test, 2021 series. In fact I don't really remember him scoring well against the two best sides of this era on difficult pitches!

Imagine Jaiswal on these flat tracks...

Eng have hit only 1 six I reckon Jaiswal would have been close to a dozen by now.

Jaiswal would have challenged Lara's record, being an opener.

I mentioned that in my post.

He has done well at home against strong Ind/Aus bowling lineups but that is the biggest blemish (if you could say that) on his career - no dominant series away against a good bowling lineup on tough pitches. Kohli in Eng, SA 2018. Smith in Ind 2017, Eng 2018.

Don't forget Rohit 3.0. He would be even deadlier on these highways.

Root needs 550 odd runs in the next 5 matches to break Yousufs Calendar year runs record. No record is safe on these pitches.

I am utterly confused right now.  On one hand I don't want our team to play any game against the pooks at all.  On the other, I really feel bad for our batters who must hv had test average boosted by atleast 10-15 runs if they played on these pattas and against this associate level side.  Every team in the world (incl toygers) hv had the opportunity to offer belt treatment to the pooks in pookland. But not our team.
