Just make KL open and play Sarfraz at number 5. KL and Sarfraz both will not fit at number 5.

Bumrah had a kid as well recently. So did Shami a few years ago, and I'm sure very many did. But we only hear about Kohli and Rohit's family planning, or lack thereof. Nobody is holding a gun to their head. They can very well quit and spend all their time with the family.

 

As someone said in the thread, somehow nothing happens during the IPL. Kohli sat out against the Test series against England, but played through the IPL, and after IPL again 2 weeks off skipping warm ups for WT20. Similarly, don't recall Rohit ever sitting out of IPL but drops out of Tests often.

 

And they were the ones who orchestrated leaving England without playing the final Test using Covid as the excuse which cost us the away Eng series win. So they were scared of Covid in England but more than happy to play IPL the very next week in Dubai/UAE! This double standard and the proclivity of these two over the hill players of picking & choosing the games they play is what gets the Indian cricket fans. Obviously the hero worshippers will bend over backwards to justify this behavior.

His test spot was never in question after the 100 in SA. He was dropped from T20s and his spot in ODIs is in competition with Pant for the WK Batsman spot. Pant's poor  white ball performance keeps KL in contention there.

It is a free country they are allowed to do what they feel is right for them.No it does not tell where their hearts lie, it just tells that they want a break to be with their families.

 

Rohit being HTB is another issue but this is basic right for any human being.

 

I am glad that BCCI has brains to allow players to have the basic rights.

I'm talking about personal life because it took precedent over their professional commitments.

Did anyone stop anyone from becoming superstar. They have become what they are due to their talent . I am not conflating anything.BCCI or people don't own them or their time.

 

Why peons don't take leave for child births.

 

Basic human right is being with their family at their most important juncture of their choice.Others don't get to decide what is important and what is not important for the players.

 

If Rohit wants to miss Australian series , it is his choice.
