We haver 15 T20s before the world cup and the team is almost set. But still few concerns are for everyone to see. 1. SKY form is massive worry. He is the captain so he is safe. But he need to do something. Maybe No.3 is not right for him. He can try coming at 6 as a finsiher. But quite clearly, No.3 is not working for him. 2. Gill, though not a bad T20 player, is not fitting as well. Again, he is VC so won't be dropped. 3. Samson in the middle order is like cutting his efficency and impactness by 50%. 4. Axar at no. 8 is also not that useful as a batter. He is not a powerhitter and need few balls and act best when inserted as floater. 5. Bumrah, Kuldeep & Varun are gems. But how to fit all three is still a puzzle. 6. Arshdeep, our best T20 bowler, is not getting game time because of above point. Overall. here is the new list of the current pool of 18 T20 players that may represent us in the World Cup: Openers: Abishek, Gill, Jaiswal Middle: Sky, Tilak, Iyer, Rinku, Dube WK: Samson, Jitesh AR: Pandya, Axar, Sundar Spin: Kuldeep, Varun Fast: Bumrah, Arshdeep, Rana Apart from above 18 players, there may be few opportunity given to following Parag, Nitish, Jurel, Prasidh, Siraj Mentioned this before the start of asia cup: this is low end tournament no results drawn from these matches can be convulsive. All can be said is they messed the batting combination and template by sending a wk in mo.

Samson was forced to bat in the middle order and hence Rinku was dropped. Also, Axar at No. 8 ( as a batsman) is not a smart move. We also have a problem of playing three out of Bumrah, Arshdeep, Kuldeep & Varun. All four are quality T20 bowlers but only three of them can play. Overall, the team was not as settled as before, even though we went to win the Asia Cup. tapandrun 1

Do not mind checking the bowling combination in such low end series, not a problem if sending top team than should do some experiments find out what could work try out some theories which can not be done in close series. But template should not be tinkered, look at eng. they all are v.good t20 batters but they keep changing order and now no one is sure. this is even when eng player plays a lot of league t20s at various spots. but it hard specially when trying to build an intnl career. The previous Eng batter got v.good and were able to play multiple position but newer player will take time. And with so much change in position and spots even player eng do not change the template, wk has to open if they are not able to make to playing 11 based only on their opening and amongst top 3 there should be a wk and some1 who could bowl a bit. Here is the good and know to work template fr a good t20, side most t20 teams try to form a playing 11 based on this, franchises try to buy player in this format. itnl sides (mostly) are structured in this way :: <Opener> <Wk -opener> <batter> <batter> <batter> <Fast-bowling Allrounder> <Batting Allrounder> <Spin-Bowling Allrounder> <Wrist-spin> <Left Arm Fast> <Defensive fast bowler> Edited October 4, 2025 by tapandrun deepdynamo and vvvslaxman 2

vvvslaxman Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 India needs 2 finishers minimum. Suresh Raina style. Someone who can go from ball 1. Axar patel at 8 is as good as having Washington there. Axar is mighty effective at 4.

There is just 1 comes to mind _shashank may be Raman but shashank has done it multiple times plus he has both offside and onside game

Yes wk opening the innings opens up a lot of slot. Now they can move up axar as well. Think Rinku and Dube will not play together even with this combo. Think Nkr or some1 else will come in the team

Also Arya is strictly a power play player as he hits his boundaries over the infield through conventional areas. Outside power play these conventional areas are protected. You need players who can play the field.

Vaibhav hits short ball, near yorkers and balls with room on off-side, this is very much what last 3-4 over bowling is. express bowling 1

They are really good..but need to demonstrate it first in lower levels..as you need a different style of play..when the ball is soft and older, more fileder outside the circle, pressure of finishing the game..tight chase, you are running out of batters or batting with tailenders..lot of different dynamics to conted with.. not saying they cant do it but you just need to develop a different mindset..

All good point, was looking for a quick fix for Ind finisher problem for just the upcoming wc. In no combination Ind has a finisher, pandaya, patel all takes few balls to get started with and patel is good in mo taking down the spin and conserving wkt can be used as dispensable floater . Who is the finisher ??? Think Rinku has limitations, the other guy is shashank wish team would have tired him earlier. He does not seems to hit the ball hard but he gets the timing right and connects v.well. can access off side too and can play ramps. Need4Speed and deepdynamo 2

Also Pandya is always prone to injuries... may be team is thinking one of the MO batter has to bat all the way through..like Tilak or Samson..or may be grooming Dube too.. no easy choice though..ideally needed someone like Shashank.. deepdynamo and tapandrun 2

This is almost a perfect XI for the home world cup. Yes, it lacks a finsiher but batting till 8 compensates for it a bit. But then No, Gill has to come and mess up the balance. Gill open ( anybody can with similar results ), Samson drops to middle order ( ineffective at No. 5) and Rinku dropped from XI. ( One batsman/Finisher less) I am 100% sure this will going to haunt us in a very important match vs SENA. bowl_out and Need4Speed 2
