SandeepMotta Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Most Indian cricket fans if not all were very optimistic when Gambhir took over from Dravid because he always talked tough and he was expected to take some much needed tough decisions which would have made a good team into a great one but unfortunately what we have seen is some atrocious decision making and a good team turning into a mediocre one. The most worrying aspect has been the lack of fight and some ridiculous decisions. Playing 2 spinners on an MCG and just going in with 4 specialist batsmen when the batting has been struggling is beyond explicable. Pretty sure this would be Sharma's last teat series but the coach Gambhir and the whole TM needs to be kicked out.
express bowling Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Washington averages 48 with the bat and 23.x with the ball. Has scored runs in Australia and is a fighter. He is not weakening the batting by replacing Gill. Harshit not getting in is a worry. Manucrick 1

The chapri deserved to dropped a while back, let him concentrate on his insta and his rumoured gf. The lack of proper planning from the TM is the worrying aspect and lack of accountability.

Strangering Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 There are only two specialist batters in this XI. Rohit and Kohli are baggage SandeepMotta 1

The fact that he has never had a coaching job in his career nor any professional coaching credentials should give you a clue. He has segued seamlessly from a politician and corporate mentor role with an IPL franchise to coaching a national side and we're reaping the rewards of that approach. sensible-indian 1

Scarface Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Tactically Gambhir has been poor and the results are showing. This was always bound to happen since Dravid seemed to do most of the heavy-lifting analysis for Rohit and it covered up the captaincy flaws. Otoh, Gambhir said in YT, he didn't like matchups/analysis and just seems to be obsessed with ARs. Probably white ball(Gambhir) and test teams can have separate coaches. Lord 1
Ultimate_Game Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Nothing will change if Gambhir is kicked out but Kohli and Rohit remain. Those two are the real problem and this hero-worship is the root cause of our problems. When 2 players who clearly don't deserve to be in the team, you can do whatever you want to or make anyone a coach, things won't change. Nepo baby Shah has anointed the two seniors in the team forever as if they are some sort of Board of Directors. They don't need to perform and in Rohit's case don't even need to be fit enough to be in the team. No coach is gonna help you when you're effectively a 9 man team and one of those two useless players is your captain who doesn't answer to anybody and has veto over any decision making.
putrevus Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 (edited) I gave him benefit of doubt for NZ series. But he has shown he just spew jingostic nonsense on TV to get this gig. Tactically he and his fellow coaches have been so inept that he is making Dravid look like genius. First was selection of pitches for NZ series and this series , team has changed spinner every test. Vijy Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Having been away from ICF for months, it sure has been an eventful period. There were two major highs (one cricketing and one non-cricketing): 1. Gukesh's win over Ding (with that said, the overall quality of play did not impress me much), and 2. the World T20 win However, to me, this T20 win was overshadowed by the dreadful whitewash at home... I don't think I have seen anything quite this humiliating, and the scars will linger for a long, long time. If there are still supporters of RoKo on current form in Tests, they should honestly have their sanity checked. One person to blame, as much as RoKo if not more, is that ass Gambhir. From what I have seen, he is much worse than Greg Chappell and all the 90s "coaches" I can recall.
