India team without Sharma/Kohli is stronger team than Aus in BGT, yet losing the trophy with negative impact

Sharma and Kohli have found their scapegoats yet again. They (their PR troll army) will blame Jaiswal for dropped catches and Pant for his irresponsible shot. They did nothing wrong.

There is not much wrong with the team.

 

I don't think any other team has so many in form batsmen.

 

Jaiswal - currently best batsman in world

KL Rahul - good opener for SENA

Gill - he has poor record, but has been in form in recent times. Scored 30 odd in each inning at Adelaide and got dropped after 1 failure.

Sarfaraz - Technically weak, but in good form nonetheless.

 

Handy all rounders

Reddy

Sundar

Jadeja

 

Wicketkeepers - both are clutch

Pant - Just having a average series. Otherwise in good form.

Jurel

 

Pacers

Bumrah  - Best in world

Siraj/Rana/Deep - they are 3rd pacer.

 

Weaknesses

1. Lack of 2nd pacer

2. Making keeper bat in first 2 hrs just after keeping for 100 overs.

 

Drop Rohit and Kohli and this team will start beating everyone again.

 

 

 

Seeing too many threads that team is missing defensive batsmen, team is having too many all rounders.

Argument regarding defensive batsmen.

 

Which batsman is not capable of seeing off new ball? Gill did it in Adelaide. India were 69-1 in 18 overs in pink ball test.

 

Why do we need defensive batsman to cover up for failures of Kohli who couldn't survive 2 overs? It was an opportunity to build from that point and score 250. Paddikal did alright in surviving new ball even though he isn't best batsman available.

 

Just because Kohli and Sharma can't bat, Pant ended up batting in first 25 overs, otherwise you need such batsmen to take advantage of older ball. 

 

Even in 2nd inning 66-2 wasn't a disastrous start when captain decided to hide behind wk-bat. You need specialist batsmen in top 4 who won't hide behind others all the time.

 

At Gabba, Jaiswal was getting found out which is bound to happen after first test. KL stood up there, Gill failed one inning and it was again a time when India needed 2 batsmen who would stand up to Aussies, any batsmen - defensive attacking average, anyone who won't hide behind wk-bat who has kept for 120 overs just 1 hr back. Ideally any batsmen in place of Kohli Sharma should have made way for Reddy, Pant, Jadeja to build on foundation provided. Kela played gem of inning there only to be neutralised by 2 tailenders. Eventually someone like Reddy who can score 50 in 70 balls ended up scoring just 16 in 60 balls because he didn't have luxury of batsmen behind him.

 

Same thing repeated at MCG, Reddy and Sundar were last to be dismissed in each inning. Why aren't they batting above 2 tailenders in the team?

 

On top of that India can't select 1 more pacer because of those 2 walking wickets.

 

What wrong AR are doing? Jadeja picked with 4 wickets at MCG. Scored runs at Gabba.

 

These 2 aren't just reducing team to 9 member team, but also reducing impact of other players. Indian team with 9 players would do better than this team.

Those 2 batters are actually disturbing the whole balance of the team.. 

Since these 2 (Ro-Ko) arent ready to compromise on their batting position, others have to mend their ways and position to compensate for their incompetence.

 

Add to that we have to increase the batting depth...that's impacting our pace bowling strength as well, coz we are forced to select the spinners who can bat instead of playing another pacer who can give breaks to Bumrah.

This bastard duo of Rohit and Kohli have most probably cost a WTC title for Bumrah who is currently at the peak of his powers. He would have blown away the brittle South African batting at Lords and would have had another legacy defining ICC final performance to go along with Barbados. 

 

Don't know how long his peak will last and it'll be really sad if he retires with no ODI/Test major titles.

Depends on the conditions to an extent. Bumrah is better on pitches with pace and bounce than he is on classic seamers in Eng. However, since he is at his peak, maybe this distinction won't matter as much.

Bumrah has been let down by lack of support from batters throughout his career. It's a travesty that Bumrah and Shami don't have ICC trophies and likes of Cummins and Starc have multiple ones despite Bumrah being much better.

 

Difference was Aussie bowlers got support from Head, Warner, Smith etc. whereas our so called "King" and "Hitman" never showed up when it mattered.
