India team without Sharma/Kohli is stronger team than Aus in BGT, yet losing the trophy with negative impact

Number of in form batsmen

Jaiswal

Rahul - He is technically strong, but mentally weak. At least can play tough knocks as opener.

Gill - He is avg, but is he as bad as Sharma. At least he is in form batsman.

Pant

Sarfaraz - Again he is also technically weak, but can he score at flat pitches probably yes. Is he in form yes.

Jurel

Reddy

All rounders

Sundar

Jadeja

Reddy

Bowlers

Bumrah

Siraj/Deep/Rana - only aspect where team is weaker than Aus.

India can't play extra bowler to cover for failures of Sharma/Kohli and other batsmen are dropped to accommodate them. So end up screwing Bumrah.

During the match other batsmen have to cover for their failure or change their batting to compensate for them.

Overall impact of Sharma/Kohli isn't 0, rather it's negative by pulling down entire team. Making others underperform.

shows how good likes of bumrah, reddy, jaiswal, etc have been

If we select a team based purely on performance not based on PR or "stars", we don't lose BGT or the NZ series at home. And we don't go trophyless for more than a decade.

We always had youngsters and they've always shown up the way they did in 2007 WT20 (nearly majority of the team were newbies), in 2018 BGT (Mayank), 2020-21 BGT after Kohli ran away, and recent home series against England (Jurel, Axar).

It's the star culture where we've continued to back the same failures. Our selectors have never heeded the definition of insanity, i.e. "Continue to do the same thing and expecting a different result". No other team plays with a hand tied behind their back the way we do.

The moment we start selecting performers irrespective of seniority and experience, we'll be unstoppable. Along with all the other examples I've provided above, just watch our T20 team which doesn't have passengers.

@Ultimate_Game I used to doubt your analysis and thought it was hate driven, but after seeing this series and watching how our young talent has immense ability I think you were right about Kohli. He has been an absolute thorn in this side for 5 consecutive years in test cricket and needs to be booted out.

I didn't think that we have good batting talent in test format but Reddy who came as a surprise pick and averaged 20 in FC has shown what we are missing by playing these two seniors. Hopefully both of them are sacked after this series.

It's not just Reddy. Mayank Aggarwal delivered in 2018. Sundar, Gill and Shardul delivered in 2020-21, Jurel delivered against England at home. Jaiswal and Reddy are delivering in this series.

Tell me when exactly have our youngsters failed? Don't you think likes of Sai Sudarshan, Rinku Singh, Jurel, Sarfaraz deserve better and deserve their shot? How long do we continue to drag the team down by playing Kohli and Rohit?

If we had 2 performing youngsters instead of Rohit and Kohli, we would most probably be leading the series and there's no way we lose BGT. We are a 9 man team with Bumrah and youngsters saddled with corpse of Rohit and Kohli. Pity our selectors don't have the balls to do the right thing and provide Bumrah and youngsters the support they deserve.

Which star was given such long rope and rewarded captaincy like Sharma?

yeah but talking about balance. Team is unbalanced because of them

That's pretty well known that we're trying to fit 11 players in a 9 man team. That's why we're selecting all-rounders for their batting abilities to cover for Kohli and Rohit.

Never seen the two most senior and experienced players drag their team so much and for so long in the history of the sport. And these shameless leeches would still not leave on their own, and selector don't have the balls to do the right thing.

All thanks to nepo baby Jay Shah. He anointed Rohit captain till eternity and has made Kohli a permanent member of the team without any performances. That's why cricket needs to be run professionally by people who understand the sport.

We're focusing too much on Indian side and ignoring the pathetic selection issues in Aussie side too. What the hell is Mitch marsh doing in this series? Lyon took what 6 wickets in 4 tests? Day 5, second session with 200 runs in the bank and he's still darting the ball with defensive field sets. Even Starc is questionable selection in 4th and 5th tests of the series. He's wincing in pain in first innings itself

Its basically 2-3 players in both teams that are keeping interest of everyone in the series. Should be called Surf excel-Nirma trophy

their selections are fine (with the exception of marsh), it's just that some players are not doing as well as they could. in our case, the self-sabotage begins with selection itself. the two cases are thus very different

Can someone confirm if I am reading it right or shall I get my vision checked ? :afraid:

In all seriousness, Kohli & Rohit are actually hurting their well established fans. No one salutes a setting sun, specially if they are lingering for too long and causing hurt to the team's chances overall.

They may score few runs here and there courtesy of their experience. But in totality they are hurting the team in the longer run.

I've never seen a 9 man team take on Aus and still be in the series by Test no. 4 :hatsoff:

Kohli is actually a -1, routinely running out our top batsmen and dropping dolly catches.

Water is way above head now. Kohli and Rohit are a national embarrassement.

Rohit has been a terrible player in Aus throughout his career and now with him woefully out of form and fitness, he looks like a joke on the field.

It is high time nepo kid Jay Shah does at least one thing right, step in and fire them both on the spot. Give the 5th Test captaincy to Bumrah and get done with these duds!

Don't worry so much about Aussies. Even Labu and Smith were thought to be out of form and expected to be dropped but they got back in form. Kohli and Rohit are absolutely hopeless.
