BacktoCricaddict
After a spirited bowling performance on D2 without Bumrah, it was extremely disappointing to see the insipid effort on D3. The same guys who had their tails up and punched above their weight just 24 hr prior were looking almost disinterested or confused by the task. They were first spraying it everywhere, bowling wide down the leg, and only staying perked up for a few minutes after a wicket fell ... then just going through the motions instead of having a rabid pack mentality that they had the previous day. If anything they were in better position to win on D3 morning than on D2. Yet they looked jaded. What happened? Edited January 5 by BacktoCricaddict The Dark Horse and Vijy 2 Link to comment
Chakdephatte
At MCG, it was heading towards a draw at the start of last session. We collapsed for no real reason. Captains and come and say just 30 minutes of poor cricket, just one bad session, but we have developed a pattern of these poor 30 minutes. BacktoCricaddict 1 Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
MCG failure was a much bigger concern. At SCG the match was over as soon as Bumrah was injured. We could've scored 250 and still not able to defend that total. We're a one man team. Without Bumrah we're not gonna beat any decent team away from home. At home we'll still be good as long as Rohit and Kohli are not around thanks to spin all rounders like Sundar, Jadeja, Axar etc. But away from home, the only weapon we have is Bumrah. rkt.india
We were out of the game on day 2 itself with the bat. Apart from Boland, others looked ineffective, still the score was 140/6. Needed 250 at least to be competitive. Pitch had eased out a lot. We threw our wickets. Pant, Reddy, Gill all played poor shots. Pant's dismissal started the collapse again like MCG. deepdynamo
Can't digest how we messed up in MCG. There were only 35 overs remaining Pant and Jaiswal well set with 7 wickets in hand. No venom in bowing, Head and Lyon going through motion. We needed to just bat 20 overs while losing not more than 1-2 wickets and Cummins would have shaken hand for a draw. The pressure on Cummins would have been immense going to SCG. Link to comment
Lord
Team was divided. The minute Fatso came for that interview. I knew team is gonna lose. Focus was not on winning Laaloo 1 Link to comment

There should have been clear message at the stroke of tea. "Do not throw your wicket away". Lord and deepdynamo 1 1 Link to comment

He is 21 years old on his first tour playing as a lower order batsman. Handing him over such a massive responsibility was a risky move. Also lot of farming of strike issues, running between the wicket issues like Siraj trying to take a single of 5th ball. These are basic things. We were so lucky Ashwin batted against Pakistan with 2 to get in 1 ball. Any other batsman in our line up would have choked. Lack of common sense is staggering. Link to comment

lemsip
The interesting thing is that despite packing the side with batting, the second innings at MCG and SCG were very similar. At Sydney, once Pant was 5th out at 124, the rest of the team was bowled out for 33 more runs. At MCG once he was 4th out for 121, the rest of the team managed just 34 more runs The brains trust who packed the side with batsmen at the expense of proper bowlers need to be thrown out ASAP before they bring this intellect to the next gig.
