Gollum Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 After the manner of Gukesh's loss today against Nodirbek, better to take some time off from following chess, wanted to smash my screen. All Indians doing terribly thus far . Far cry from last year when Gukesh and Pragg shared for 1st with Pragg winning tiebreaks. Worried for Pragg more now, he has faded completely after a brilliant first half of 2025. Also looks so fatigued and down now. Candidates starts from 28th March, maybe needs a break after this. Gukesh well, what to say? More than world championship, now getting nervous about our Olympiad title defence.
Gollum Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 (edited) Based on recent form, Olympiad team and board order should be Arjun on board 1, no question Nihal Pragg Gukesh Reserve board maybe a rookie like Pranav Venkatesh No place for Vidit, Aravindh, Hari, Luke etc. Of course things may change, but if I am being brutally honest, as of today, this will be the fairest order. Can't remember the last time a world champion didn't play on board 1 for his country. Even 56 yo Vishy can come back and walk in as board 3, that is how disappointing these youngsters are. He is semi-retired now (almost completely in classical), but can legit make the team if he chooses to prepare a bit. Edited January 23 by Gollum

Yet here we are, not even halfway through this goddamn tournament, and this Mongoloid mixed-breed Sindarov is already sitting pretty at +5. Gukesh has been an absolute embarrassment since winning the title - nowhere near the level a World Champion is supposed to deliver. Same old story: media tamasha, endless distractions, and those brain-dead filmy functions sucking the life out of him. What a glorious kick in the balls it would be to lose to this Sindarov mutt instead of someone like Caruana. And before the delicate snowflakes start getting hissy fits over me calling Sindarov a Mongoloid mixed-breed -- I had the great privilege of meeting Bob Bowman, coach of the immortal Michael Phelps, in a corporate session. He kept saying how deep, burning hatred for the opponent is rocket fuel for killer instinct. That’s exactly what made Phelps the greatest Olympian who ever lived. So yeah, I’ll keep the hate, even as a fan. Better to be that and win than be a " good, cultured and pleasant " Indian who almost always comes 2nd and lacks killer instinct.
