Playing on same ground gives India huge advantage’: Cummins criticises ICC’s controversial Champions Trophy decision

not about knowing. Only India getting one venue is undeniable advantage.

WTC Final did not face any one team when venue was decided. Though it should be rotated

While Cummins has valid point but I don't think it is big deal. Does he have a solution?? He needs to understand why it was done also before talking about it.

ICC has always been about money and has been driven by it.

There's no hypocrisy. Cummins is talking about issue affecting his team like our guys should. Duniya ka theka kisi ne nahi liya.

if you can't blame BCCI/ ICT raising issue about WTC Final, how can you expect Cummins to do it?

I am not expecting him to raise anything i am just calling out his hypocrisy. Yes he is an hypocrite , they always act saint unless caught naked … slightly different topic but its hard to believe this sly dog was not aware of sandpaper use.

There was no need to have only one venue. Even in UAE they could rotate

Pakistan for having different venues

That is why India is playing only in Dubai. Cummins/BBC Agnew's question should be towards PCB and not whining about India getting advanatge.

They complained even during the WT20 that India is playing all games during the day iirc.

Oh did they? The only complain I remember is India's venue was already decided. But no matter what, you'll find goras complain about everything. They never look at how they used to run cricket and even now the advantage they get. Let them whine for all we care.

Biggest issue I have with goras is their biased umpiring, now more pronounced in DRS era. Every single marginal call went in favor of NZ in the home series, I have never seen umpires so swift to raise their fingers for our batsmen getting hit on the pad, and so unmoved when the opposite happened.

This is more sinister, subtle and difficult to counter, hence a bigger danger to the integrity of the sport than any scheduling kalesh.

I have said it plenty of times and will say it again, BCCI has to push to change "umpire's call". Push it to be definitive, i.e. if more than 15 or 20% of the ball is hitting the stumps, it's out irrespective of the on-field decision. Every decision should have the same consistent result - either out or not out irrespective of the on field decision. If we don't do it, we'll continue to come up short with umpire's calls going in SENA nations' favor in big moments.

It's not about questioning umpire's integrity but unconscious bias is a real thing and you're more likely to side with or favor folks who look like you or are closer to you. We don't want cricket to end up the same way as Hockey where we have to fight the opponent as well as refs.

Illingworth got ICC umpire of the year, that Pommie bstard is the biggest umpiring crook since Bucknor. Our people give bad decisions which affect everyone equally, because they are incompetent. Goras like Illingworth and Reiffel have mastered the art of subtlety, not just their biased decisions (they won't give howlers against India because that can be overturned by DRS), they will give them at critical moments which turns the match 180, evil genius if you ask me. For India they may give 3 decisions in our favor when opponent is on the verge of losing by 300 runs, so on the surface it looks like they don't have bias.

Seen the same in hockey, there even more brazen and TV umpire is key part of the conspiracy as we saw in the Olympics QF where the only red card of the last 3 years was reserved just for our number one defender by the German TV umpire (overturned onfield umpires who wanted yellow, even they were shocked by the final verdict) knowing full well the threat full strength India would have posed to his team in the SF. Like how Argentina got 2 red cards in the 1990 FIFA WC final. Europeans may play 10 times rougher and make life threatening tackles but no red card for them.

PS: Similar umpiring chwtiyapa happened in Tokyo SF when we were tied with Belgians 2-2, Manpreet got a yellow in Q4 for slight push (didn't even deserve green) while Belgians were given full freedom to practice their judo moves on us. They tried the stunt in bronze medal match by stopping the clock during play, but Sreejesh defied them in final seconds, that PC awarded to Germany was after full time.

BCCI has zero input in ICC boardroom in cricket matters. Those decisions are taken by ECB, CA....I can guarantee our clowns there don't even know basic rules of the sport.

I have to add Kettleborough to the list and he trumps likes of Illingworth and Reiffel by a mile. India lost nearly every final Kettleborough stood in since 2014, and you'll see a bunch of umpire's call he gave against India. In a knockout when you're playing a tough opponent, an umpire's call can totally change the game. I wonder why BCCI, who's supposed to be running world cricket can't get shytes like these removed or not officiate India's matches after a trend has been established.

We let folks like these get away and then let Eng host all the WTC finals, and yet BCCI rules world cricket :facepalm:Wish BCCI and our admins are focused on these things rather than money all the time.

That too only for their pockets. As long as they get their cuts and privileges, they are fine. You think a pig like Rajiv Shukla cares about the welfare of cricket in India. Look at the state of his own stadium, Green Park, Kanpur. I can guarantee his fellow pig Jay Shah hasn't worked a day in his life, but is now better placed than 99.99% Indian population.

That's why I find it laughable when people say that BCCI runs cricket or come up with BCCICC shyte. BCCI hasn't helped India on anything and in fact have increased our odds by not pushing for umpire's call to be more fair or hosting WTC in subcontinent or not even asking for umpires who're actually neutral etc.

Also they bend over to broadcasters. 2021 WT20, 7 days gap before a must win match ruined our chances. Similar one week gap here, imagine the pressure and loss in momentum if we had lost one of our 2 games last week.

2023 WC should have started at 12 noon (or 12:30) to minimize dew factor, knowing full well our historical luck with coin toss in must win games. But broadcasters want cricket in prime slots. Same in 2021 T20 WC, had match started 90 minutes earlier or later dew factor would have been absent or evened out. But no, need 19:30 start IST (18:00 local time, so one innings without a drop of dew and other one with dew fully set....process of dew formation begins around 20:00 there).  You think Jay Shah cares about these things?

Main reason we won the WI WC was because dew factor was absent. Our time zone difference played to our advantage for a change, no way BCCI factors these things. ECB, CA do everything they can to improve their teams' winning chances.

Yup, we get impacted the most due to scheduling all the matches in prime time and are adversely impacted due to dew and other factors which come into play. Wish the knockouts are played during the day time when dew and other factors don't come in and conditions remain the same for both the teams.
