The list is getting longer.  Mavi, Nagarkoti, Kartik Tyagi, Hangarkekar, Sushant Mishra, Akash singh. With the amount of incentives for fast bowlers if they do well, why did we lose these guys. Now we are seeing bowlers who were not really talked about flourishing. Vyshak,  Kamboj. Even Arshdeep was a bench player in the world cup.

Mavi and Nagarkoti are the biggest disappointements. I thought they would be playing India in 1-2 year time (2019-2020) but here we are in 2025. Arshdeep who wasn't preferred there is already India regular and won 2 ICC Tournaments with Indian senior team.

Never underestimate the physical and psychological effects of injuries, especially on fast bowlers.

Kamboj has also played for U19.

There has been a general shift in board and selectors policies in picking the U19 player into intnl side. Now they do not pick a player right away after 1-2 seasons of domestic cricket after u19, some say its to stop age frauds and make u19 less lucrative and most part is IPL and better and improving standards of domestics.

Unless they are picking a test specialist the road to Ind team (white-ball) goes through IPLs.

IPLs--> Ind t20i team against a weaker team --> T20i against good team -->Odis if there is some spot available.

Only Shaw and Gill are picked right after u19 (or soon after U19) because they were seen as next big thing in Ind cricket and there was a spot available to them else no 1 has been picked,Pant and kishan made it to Ind side as Dhoni retired and Ind needed wkt.

Arsh made into ind side because he had a decent IPL season and Ind didnt have a LAF bowler and he was not the 1st choice it was mohsin but he got injured and arsh got the chance do not think any1 else made it to Ind side from recent u19 teams.

Now coming to some of the bowlers mentioned, mavi and nagarkothi were not that tall and if they are not that skillful short bowler 140 kmph does not have much going for them. Yes they could have made into Ind side riding on th wave of u19 success and media hype for bowling fast fr their levels.

Ind U19 selectors have been picking the wrong bowlers, no one is that tall and if they are age frds hry are not going to gain any height in future as well, and other do not make it to their domestic side due to various reasons, sometimes there are senior bowlers already present in the side sometimes the are picked and kept on bench for seasons and not getting good game time.

Ans now with this IPL net bowlers, IPL scouts are getting better bowlers for their side which they promotes these players in the respective domestic teams.

And previously (when gangully took over Ind team as captain) he/board thought that player who have been playing domestic for long and not able to make it are no good or not up-to standrads they though of picking players from u19 after 1-2 good seasons of domestic cricket and then give then chance to develop as players in intnl cricket and it worked for Ind.

So overall its general policy shift and bad selection of U19 bowlers in recent time, even in emerging cups as well

Akash Singh, Hangargekar are 22, Kartik, Sushant are 24. Calling them never flourished is a bit too harsh. Not everyone gets to play for India immediately after u19. We have hardly introduced 19-20 year olds in last ten years like we did before with likes of Ishant, Kohli, Rohit, Raina, Yuvraj, RP, Pathan, etc.
