Lord Posted March 28 Posted March 28 How is it a scam if they are paying winners fairly? Govt earning so much, still Tai sucking salaried class' blood New guy 1
deepdynamo Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Its not a scam. Govt gets a cut. Fantasy owner gets a cut. Few winners get a cut. Majority users will lose their money though but not in huge denomination. But the user base is so huge so crores of money transactions takes place. Unofficially, its sort of betting in these fantasy apps. Lord, rollingstoned and tapandrun 1 2
nevada Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Betting apps have ruined the lives of many in India. In Telangana state alone there have been several suicides by people who lost money big time. They start small, lose a pile and borrow money left and right to "recover" the lost money by betting more. The cycle ends as the gambler dies by suicide with loans he can never repay. Even in villages, internet cafes have become venues for all night gambling behind closed shutters. coffee_rules 1

The suicides are because of illegal betting and not betting apps. The betting apps allow at max 30, 40 rupees per team and have a limit of number of teams you can add per match. No one goes bankrupt with such small amount of money lost. You can maybe lose rs.500 per IPL season if you bet dillegently every single match on multiple apps. Even then in 80% cases, just having the playing 11 correctly means you get your money back. No one loses even thousand rupees on these apps Edited March 29 by New guy tapandrun 1

Now, crores of India play on these app for small amounts hoping to win grand prizes. But most fails to win anything substantial. The only scam can be the ridiculous prize money of one person winning 1 crore rupee prize. This can be plain marketing lie and manipulated by the computer. Don't know a person who has won such a mega cash. I also used to play a fantasy app starpick - a newly launched app around 2020. I played the entire IPL over there and won legit 50,000. The only reason I was successful because less people knew about- less competition, more chance to win. But in current landscape, it is very tough to win any substantial prize. nevada and New guy 2

The fantasy apps are raising billions in funding. Dream 11 is valued at $8billiom. I see no reason why they won't pay out the grand prize of crore or more. It's pocket change to them. Why would they risk billions of dollars in funding by committing fraud and trying to save a handful of crores? It's not worth the risk.

This is basically like buying those state govt lottery tickets. Lord 1
cowboysfan Posted May 5 Posted May 5 how dumb do you have to be to bet on this? you are better off going to an actual Casino to lose your money, atleast you have better odds there.

You won't lose money if you do something as basic as have the playing XI after toss. No one with the slightest knowledge of cricket will lose money.
crictime Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Someone had mentioned that the fantasy league websites make their own teams and modify the previous match teams by including players who had top scored in those matches.
