Dude, that's all fine but how to report them. Immigration? Police station? Hotline? Whatsapp numbers? and how about Indians who are supporting Pakistan like that Agra guy

Tweet about it  and Tag PMO/Modi

j/k

Tweet and tag local police dept is good enough or file a online FIR. Local state police dept will have online services for sure

Most Goi/PD official channels are pretty active on Twitter. My friend tweeted that the Second class A/C cell toilet was dirty, it was responded to and got cleaned in the next stattion., He hardly has any major follower count.

But a Pakistani would consider him anti-Pakistan no matter what reasons he has.

The larger point being that people are guided by religion. You think him to be a nice person because he is a Hindu irrespective of his nationality, and that could be the case with other religions where national identity fades in comparison with religions identity.

Also, I am not sure if you would have been able to act like that in Agra, which has a relatively higher Muslim population. It is likely that you would have been beaten and may have even sparked off a mini riot.

Be vigilant though on your public transport as who knows next time those folks could come armed, waiting for you or someone like you to confront and they resort to violence.

What I was saying in my last post was I'm concerned for his safety. So you are saying what I did can constitute a mini riot in Agra. The last sentence is not something I'm used to. Its gang violence. That gives me an insight into other parts of India

Many of these people explode crackers when Pak beats India in cricket. Though now this has reduced considerable (maybe because Ind-Pak don’t play each other much and Pak loses most often than not).

In Bengal, stones are thrown at Hindu religious processions.

Which is why I am not impressed with jingoist online behaviour because it is like that the same person would act differently in a different situation and/or different place. And the other side can match that without much effort.

Also you have to be careful with respect to law(s) - if you apprehend someone for listening to a Pakistani song, which is not against the law, you would likely get into trouble.

Someone could take such concepts to another level where he construes listening to a Bollywood song sung by a Pakistani singer as anti-national.

One can do such boycotts in a personal capacity but I am not sure if laws are being broken.

its not just a pakistani song but one which has pakistan and shahid repeated on several ocassions. I wouldn't bat an eyelid for most things while in public transport much less for a song and even lesser if its sung in Hindi or Urdu. Thanks for your concern but I will react to such situations as I see it. We are coming off of a standoff against our arch enemy and you want me not to even raise my voice in this situation. Your post is very negative and defensive.

What is the "other side" is remaining in India illegally. You want to look the other way :facepalm:Bengal is a lost case we know it. What I want to make sure is I don't want my state nor any other state to turn that way. Kanglus are like machar. get the machar spray otherwise you will suffer malaria

I was traveling by public transport from the mall to home when I heard some song behind me with the words "pakistan" and "shahid". I couldn't listen to it properly and my half baked Hindi, I couldn't gauge what was being said. I have been wrong on many occasions in my interactions with people as I act like a intolerant fellow. but my hunch was this is a pro-Pakistanistani song. I looked behind it was some "northie" fella. At first, I thought I should mind my own business. Then I thought maybe he is an illegal bang bro and I should atleast ask him why are you listening to that song. he is in my town, my country and thought I should question this guy.

I asked him where he is from. He was shocked that I asked him a question. I repeatedly asked him. Then I asked him why are you listening to a pookistani song. I asked him again where he is from. Then he responded he's from Agra. I again asked him why he is listening to that song with the word shahid in it. I told him I would report to the police if he kept listening to the same song. Then he couldn't maintain eye contact and started looking down. He changed the song. My stop was coming and I was staring at him suspiciously until I got down.

He probably thought this is Chennai nobody will understand hindi/urdu. I usually don't listen to what other people are doing. I kept hearing the word pakistan repeatedly thats why I was alarmed. My uncle had a similar experience while having tea outside. He said the guy he spotted maybe from bang that's why I also suspected the guy in the bus to be illegal. My uncle was asking me for a hotline to report such incidents. I had none and thought he is a boomer probably not heard him right. He also makes mistakes and he can be more intolerant than me. I thought I was a cool guy but I lost it when I heard the song. I felt like a boomer today :((

I make fun of boomers but today I realized that generation of people atleast asked questions. My generation and the one after me are fully immersed in their phones and showed apathy. I saw the apathy around me when this incident happened. Maybe the boomers have a point about the future generations. Anywho I want to be prepared the next time something like this happens. I searched online but found nothing relevant. Do you have any information on this. Otherwise, the only option is to beat the dude :whack: and take him to a police station

BTW the guy said he is from Agra. What are the chances he maybe a muslim. This is where the "intolerant" me comes to the party. I'm unable to sugarcoat this and never have been accused me of sugarcoating. I know there are many patriotic muslims in India. There is always the segment that is very vocal and dominates all things muslim. These are the ones that support pookistan. Now I get what this forum has been saying all along. Usually the muslims of TN are nice people. The influx of people from the north have spoiled the local muslims. This is how I "feel". I get the feeling this may polarize the state and I could understand the pains of the country at large.

I call the whole charade of Owaisi as BS. I always thought he is a cunning snake in our midst. I read something like he took a pledge and asked deobandis to garner support of all Indian muslims to support India against Pakistan. The reality seems far different. deobandis from what I have learnt are the extreme school of subcontinental muslims. The agra guy seemed like a normal gen z guy. What makes that guy listen to a pookistani song? This is mind control on a different level.

PS - @Austin 3:!6@Lord move it to chit chat wrongly posted in cricket section

Call local police station they should be able to guide you. Can't believe this guy was playing so loudly that those around him could hear it. Brilliant of you to confront him. If this had happened in place like gurgaon people around you would have beaten the hell out of this chap.

Anti nationals have to be reported to police.

There was a time when people would not mind to shift to Bengal for work, however now for a person from a major city, Bengal is a reason to avoid. Not even to tour, lest work for a long time. It is slowly reflecting in their GDP. Illegals will just take the city down.

The problem is while employing, small manufacturing units and places like hotels etc do not properly check documents like aadhaar card and background check of people. Many small firms  wants to save the small amount of approxinately Rs.  1200 per background check which leads to illegal people working. Vote bank politics help them build illegal shelters

This month raids were carried on places which are habitated by labour workers coming from Bengal. Some were found to be Bangladeshis who entered via Bengal and reached other states. Police are aware of all slums were such people live. They raid these places when required and nab the antisocial elements. There are many places which are on radar of police. These are generally filthy areas where one does not even feels like going again. Thankfully these ghettos are isolated, although there are quite few of these.

I am not sure if the person you encountered was an alien but note that Indians themselves go overseas legally or illegally. And they would listen to Indian songs (including patriotic) too despite a tussle b/w their adopted country and India.

In cricket too for e.g., you will see Indian origin citizens of Australia, NZ, & UK, & maybe even SA, support India over their “home” countries.

The above probably displays how the people in the subcon behave. For many (or most), the borders drawn by the British do not overwrite the feeling of “bhaichara” based on religion and regional factors.

I am taking this opportunity to also address a deep rooted issue here. BD, India, and Pakistan are relatively new compared to religion and historical regional connections. For Hindus, it is relatively easy to connect with India as the other two are Islamic countries.

There is a difference there. Aus and other countries don't consider India as their enemy country and vice versa. You can't be an Indian and root for Pakistan especially in this situation. The words of the song is pakistani and shahid this was repeated throughout the song. Take your bhaichara to pakistan and they will shove it where the sun won't shine.

That is your segmentation based on your convenience. If you are loyal to your country, you would support it to cater to your notions of attachment (not pick and chose based on situations like in sports this, in X that).

The truth probably is that in the subcon, religion + historical connections > national identity.

What you see on the ground is an expression of this deep rooted mindset. These unresolved feelings could probably lead to a different type of subcon in future.

What you are doing is:

* Apprehending someone listening to something Pakistani in Urdu (similar to Hindi) in TN, where Tamil is the main language (and you don’t claim to understand the language fully)

* Finding a Hindu in Pakistan speaking against Pakistan to be totally acceptable (but the same rules don’t apply to Muslims in India) - Ideally, you should find both behaviours similarly disturbing per your perspective if “nation” is the key criteria (and there are other examples as well)

The noticeable aspect is that how everything that aligns with your perspective is seen as a natural thing to do while when the situation is flipped, it is not the same. Basically, you are entrenched in your point of view!

It throws light on the point that “nation” is a tool being used in a wide spread centuries old religious tussle.

For e.g. -  if there were issues with Nepal, and a historic temple in Nepal was in danger due to conflict, many of us (Hindus) would have not preferred India to take any action that could impact a culturally significant historically valuable temple.
