Sarfraz khan used to keep wickets as well. Sai has a higher ceiling I suppose. Laxman was considered a dud at beginning but selectors stuck with him above jacob martin vishal bharadwaj kanitkar amol majmuder gagan khoda amay khurasiya et all all Of whom had good fc results..

VVS had one of the greatest FC season in Ranji before he made his comeback.Others simply were not good enough Sarfraz is not that case he looked at ease in playing English bowlers and also against NZ he did well.

Other than Jaiswal , I don't see anyone in this team who has higher ceiling. I have not see Sai so cannot comment on him.Sarfraz reminds me of Javed Miandad who also had knack of scoring runs without looking pretty.

Barely 5'9" and clocking around 125 kph, averaging near 70 with the ball in this series .

But we were told, quite adamantly, he was gonna be a game changer in the Test series.

Thakur? He is becomes pathetic . better to play proper Pacer.

Kuldeep

Parsidh

Arshdeep

Siraj

Boom

This should be bowling attack's .

I don't care about batting depths because England can score 550+ against Jadeja , Thakur + three pacers.  So no use of batting depth if we can't bundled them out cheaply .

Play six batsman and 5 proper bowlers.

Jurel with his batting in Aus, and in India Vs Aus showed he can play as a specialist

If he is more capable than a specialist batsman then it doesn't matter that he is a keeper

Oh scores of 11 runs in first innings and 1 run in second innings in only test he played in Australia has shown Jurel is a capable batsman. Sorry I somehow did miss those great innings since I watched that test .

Laxman was always good ,but he was always dropped from the team.He came back with a very good domestic season. He was made to play as opener. He was shuffled from 1 to 6 position.

Only after his match winning knock against Australia, he was able to cement his place in the team.

I quoted that post. I didnt' say he was a dud. Yes  i agree he was shunted up and down. THen he put his foot down and said he would bat only at 3 or something

Out of everything one thing is clear. We need to groom a left hand pace bowler. Indias best victories pre 2011 came due to zaheer khan ( jellybean, Durban), RP Singh ( Perth).. even Pathan was pretty good in initial years..angles they create is always difficult.. india has a metronomic right hand pace bowling attack..

Yea.. batsmen are not used to facing left handed bowlers in comparison. Hence that surprising element. We always talk a lot about left arm seamer bringing the ball into the right hander bowling over the wicket. We never talk about right hander bringing the ball back into left hander. Because batsmen are more used to it.

Jurel is not not ABDV or Sanga with his single 100 in FC.

India is not NZ where you have problem in finding players. So long story short Jurel is not good enough to play as batsman. I have seen his batting.

Yes yes Jurel has played over 100+ tests ,you are too late too pass on verdict

That one hundred is 249 despite batting lower down the order.

Two big test series wins we had where we didn't have any left armer. Pick the best bowlers, not for the sake of variety.

England bat deep and everyone goes hard in that team. They need to use their aggression against them.SL won a test last summer so India should be doing to do better than them.
