Last bit about the fuel switch issue that was not inspected by AI is damning FAA and Boeing had reported the fault in fuel switch and somehow all involved in that reporting made it optional to inspect. The Air India jet was not inspected for the locking mechanism fault as it was never mandatory.” This has to be looked into further hopefully by AIIB and not Boeing

An operational flaw is very easy to blame on for both giant corporations. There is some type of mechanism to control fuel flow to engines in every plane, Boeing or Airbus. If this was a design flaw - I.e., the switches could be easily flipped from ON to OFF, there is a problem with pretty much every commercial plane flying in the world right now. I don't want to believe it but I'm leaning towards the sabotage angle. Without fuel to the engine, how was the plane able to move in the first place? We are not even talking about flying at this point, just moving on the ground. Once the plane was flying - i.e., wheels lifted off - what caused the fuel to suddenly cut off to both engines? The plane can safely climb, fly and land with one functioning engine. Fuel cut off to both engines? That's very difficult to explain. Lord 1
kepler37b Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 (edited) I do not want to get into this topic further. It has become a professional RR. Remember, behemoths like Boeing are easy to target. The logical analysis is quite difficult. Edited July 12, 2025 by kepler37b singhvivek141 and coffee_rules 2

His attire and manners could fool anybody. There is no concluded proof yet on how the fuel switches were switched off. It could be a malfunction too as reported by FAA advisory. Don’t be jumping to conclusions by a preliminary report just like the BBC headline His tone of voice is quite professional. Whatever he says must be analysed, not shouted down.

Did you .. did not is not proof. as recorded it took 4 seconds for both switches to go from Off to run to do it manually, forget that the speed to take off at 180 knots to noticing the off position is within a second? His whole video made it look like there is no way for switches to off unless done manually. Any narrative or blame towards pilot has to be suspect, because Boeing has done it previously on 737. The companies blame human error first as though their machines are perfect!! It takes multiple crashes to accept their lapses due to economic reasons. Hard reality. USG never gives a clean-chit companies unlike Indian government Lord 1
Lord Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Looks like a cover up. Classic dead pilots v a big company coffee_rules 1
MK55 Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 To me it seems like a clear murder suicide - nothing else. Shocking really. The scenario that the switches were installed without the locking mechanism just seems improbable. This wasn’t the first flight the plane took. And even if we assume that there was no locking mechanism, the switches control different engines. No way would they be having the exact same mechanics so that both fail in such close proximity to each other. Also it looks like the switches are spring loaded / mechanical. Also, if vibration caused them to fall, they won’t fall 1 second apart sequentially. They need to understand the psychology of these two now.
MK55 Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Also would be interesting to see when exactly one of the pilots commented “Why did you do that” - like how soon was that after the switches were taken off. Possible that he caught some peripheral view of that perpetrator.

USG never gives a clean-chit companies unlike Indian government Done it previously does not mean it will happen again. Companies can blame any one they want. But the world is much bigger than companies. Courts,NGOs, elected representatives, media, independent experts all are there to uncover the truth. And why a blame towards pilot had to be suspect? Are they some knights in shining armour and commit zero mistakes? They are like us. Prone to emotions like rest of us. Remember 9/11 was caused by pilots. God forbid evidence was there. Boeing is a premier engineering company and its 787 alone conducts millions of flying hours per year. I am not even counting 737 and others. If Boeing is so bad as some ICFers blame, why are other planes not just dropping off the sky? I really salute the engineer's for creating such resilient and robust systems. And they are driving the growth of our civilization. Edited July 13, 2025 by kepler37b
kepler37b Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 (edited) If the pilot actually did it, then air india must be punished for not taking care of mental health of pilots. But again, why should the company be responsible for paagal pan of one employee? This is twisted beyond my brain. Hope the airline companies hire an army of psychologists and evaluate pilots before every take off. That is the only solution that I can think of. Edited July 13, 2025 by kepler37b
