Some lthink the the argument is that tIndia is the target. No, focus is on Boeing. It is Boeing that is the culprit and always tries to get away when third world countries are involved. When they are involved with NTSB/FAA they are taken to task with hefty fines and lawsuits

NTSB/FAA are in Boeing's pockets. They were self certifiying all their Aircrafts till the 737 max disasters which was stopped for a brief period to avoid public outcry. Looks like they have regained their self certification.

They have cut all corners to make a buck.

Did Air India do their part in keeping the aircrafts in top condition?  Is there any reason why they are not creating hell for Boeing.

Why are they not grounding all the Boeing Jets.

This itself is a mistake. There are enough meetings where you run into the same people; avara jothe ooTaanu maaDbeka? It's supposed to bring "teams" together. That is BS, IMO. What brings people together is a common purpose to get the work done. Even now, when my dept head or another colleague says, "let's go to lunch to talk about it," I am like "let's just meet in my office and knock it out."

No, it was not a working lunch meeting. We have that too. But, this one was for a social event.

Back on topic: There is really no point in discussing such matters with anyone. Everyone (including you) is speculating. No one talked about the pilot's mental health until after the indication that he may have physically turned the switch off. In fact, it is not even clear which pilot (if anyone) - Sabharwal or Kunder - did it. So, at this point, everyone has reached a conclusion and no amount of fact-stating will help because everyone will cherry-pick facts that make them feel better and go "see I told you!!"

It's not like a science experiment, where you can argue about the data, and if you don't agree, go and do the experiment again to figure it out.

Agree, that this has become like the panchatnatra story of 4 blind men describing the elephant after touching different parts of the elephant. The main reason for that is the shoddy report that is so ambigious that they might as well as not issued it. The leak of it to the western press by NTSB/Boeing officials is unpardonable for the standards they are perceived to hold on to. People are picking parts of the story/report and highlighting what they want. I can't believe that Indians are giving a clean-chit to NTSB/Boeing despite their earlier episodes of collusion and backing out offical enquiries only when many crashes have happened. Even earlier Boeing had blamed pilot error to get away with thei flaws. After all this and when the final investigation cames through, it might be a pilot action , but why jump the gun now, just because questions are being raised . Too hasty by the Indian government too, alludes to some conspiracy of quid-pro-quo in this reality of wars, weapons, kinetic action, tariifs and Trump!!

Yep. Incomplete/preliminary/under-investigated reports generate nothing but speculation. But then again, people are impatient. The longer it takes, the more pressure there is, especially these days on SM. So, they feel the need to say something even if it is half-baked.

Breaking news - The data recorder showed that the senior captain DID turn off the fuel switches.

News.com.au is running the story.

This is so sad, if true. I want to wait for an authentic indian media source

I knew it.

Anyways, this should have been never seen as an attack on the Indian aviation in the first place. This is a serious health crisis and the global aviation body is upset because they know that this can happen to any pilot from any airline in any country.

Whoever reports it, it all comes down to the flight data recorder.

I don't want to believe it but it looks like a case of sabotage.

The flight data recorder is the source of truth.

Can't get any more authoritative than that.

Yes. Of course only WSJ seems to have heard the data recorder and  is reporting. We need an official account . Will wait

:police:... The wait is going to very very long. Don't waste your time bruhhh...

Nothing new about yesterday’s breaking news. It’s the same old report about what pilot 1 said and what the other responded. Some speculation that pilot 1 is the senior one. Indian media ignored the WSJ exclusive.  Even BBC didn’t  pick it up. The wait continues

What is this sabotage angle? So far, it is all in the language - "transitioned" could be manual or electronic. Electornic is where the sabotage narrative will come in. There is no IOT, it can't be remotely transitioned with a remote control. There could be some pressure activations that is so far unknown to everybody except a few in Boeing and others.

There were two pilots in the cockpit - Senior pilot and the first officer.

The first officer was flying the plane. One hand is on the yoke, the other hand is on the thrust lever.

The senior officer is responsible for monitoring and calling out the 'V' speeds.

The FDR picked up the first officer asking the senior pilot why he cutoff the fuel switch. The first officer couldn't have done it himself, both his hands are full.

We pretty much eliminated the possibility of switches being accidentally brushed. They are spring loaded mechanical switches, not electric ones.

Elimination of possibilities.

If there was some pressure activation that is unknown, than, every 787 flying out there is at risk. Dual engines idling on take off is CATASTROPHIC. There is no other word for it.

Most of the western media theories and YT experts who come in a pilot’s attire to sound authentic are convinced that the only way the cutoff switches went off is by pilot action which happened in a second. Yes, at this time , we know the cutoff switches is the Why of the crash. How is still in under  investigation, the WSJ report from yesterday is so damning to the senior pilot and they accuse him of committing murder-suicide based on the same speculation of the above conversation you point out to. This is not a saazush against India, but highly suspect of clearing out Boeing
