It looks Gambhir is trying to insert his favourite in the team and he want to block the place by selecting Paddikal,Sai, Jurel, Reddy. There is no logic of Jurel playing over specialist batsman,even if Paddikal is in the squad Ultimate_Game 1

Sarfaraz only played 6 Tests, 3 of them on minefields against NZ and still has a batting average of 38 with one 150+ score. That's pretty decent performance for a youngsters trying to establish himself in the team when Gill was averaging early 30s for half a decade and KL still averages around 36 after playing nearly 70 Tests! IMO selectors should be answerable and need to explain their decisions. I want to hear why Sarfaraz was sideline and Sai or Jurel preferred despite performing worse than Sarfaraz, or why likes of Gill and KL got such a long rope and Sarfaraz sidelined after just 6 Tests despite performing much better. Double standards and favoritism is the only explanation I can come up with. tweaker 1

tweaker Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Maybe Gambhir is trying to select Badoni,or other players,who he like to select him in the team. He is waiting for his 1 performance in A team or IPL ,so that he can select him. Sai, Paddikal, Jurel, Reddy are the place holder for the time being.

Badoni is an extremely limited player with low ceiling. I don't fault his character or the drive but he simply doesn't have it to be a difference maker in the Indian team.

But ceiling is low. Took a very good diving catch to change the course of the game today. He can bowl a few overs. They are looking at him as a total package. ALthough he is still better than Sundar as a total package as he can do better than Washi in 2 departments, we still have better option. Until Paragh realizes his full potential they will be playing these players. Indian TM is moving towards loading the side with a lot of bowlers, lot of batsmen

If Sarfaraz scores heavily it would be difficult for them to not select him again
