Not about Easwaran but people jumping ahead of FC performers based on IPL. Sarfaraz is another example.

Why does Yash Dhull have to consistently score big when Sai got in for domestic average of 38? Same yardstick is not being applied

Some picks are based on eye test and potential

Badrinath was a case earlier for whom people kept crying that he has amazing numbers

When he debut he was a dud

Some players just are good enough for first class

Ipl gives you bit of sneak peak how someone will do against international pace bowling

There are many openers and no. 3 having better numbers in FC, but they dont play IPL so wont be considered, just like Easwaran has been ignored

We complain when selection is based on FC stats which means guys like Mukesh and Avesh play ahead of someone who may be potentially more suited like Yudhvir or Gurnoor

And also complain when selection is based on judgement like in Sais case- he has shown he belongs

The truth is it should be somewhere between the two

I'm talking of batsmen only. Fast bowlers can be picked on talent and pace.

IPL is completely different format played on completely different pitches. It can tell nothing about ability to play long innings, ability to leave the ball, ability to play out a tough spell etc. Pujara was a dud in IPL but legend in Tests

Badrinath played 2 Tests v rampaging SA team where most big stars failed too. Maybe he would have been a failure anyway but deserved that chance.

The idea that Sai got in just off IPL is not right

Just in the last year he scored a century for India A in Australia and a century Vs England Lions at home . Both series unfortunately Easwaran struggled in comparison

Having no PR will hurt Jaiswal.

Matchwinning 2nd innings 100 on the greenest pitch of this series in Oval, his innings started from day 2 last session itself, with us in deficit, when it was still tough for batting, any other player's PR would be milking such a knock whole year.

Those roasting Sai & Karun, see how the generational talent Bethell looked out of sorts in the last test - in home conditions and batting #6 with Root to guide him.

Whomever we pick - Sai, Karun, Sarfraz, Easwaran - have to back them for couple of series and give them a proper shot. Can't expect ready-made talent to step in and churn out 400/500 runs in debut/comeback series.

Control stats for Gill, Sai and KL are impressive considering they bat in the Top 3 against the new ball.

Pant with his agressive approach having that control is even more impressive
