I said before this series there’s a vacuum of information around his back. we need more detail. what is he saving himself for? I think the unspoken allegation is that he’s saving himself for other formats and the income of course.

IPL is next year april. The only other source of income is via ads for cricketers. I m sure Bumrah is not saving himself for ads. Shane bond lost a whole career due to same injury. He could have been the greatest bowler ever..

Irfan is not saying anything which has not been written on this very forum. Now that an ex player calls it out, its been termed a smear campaign. Cant have both ways.

What gets me is the insinuation that he ducks from pressure. It is one thing to say that he should be more durable but he shouldn't imply that he held himself back in crucial situations.

i mean if his back really does go, he may not be able to bowl at all for anyone ever again, but it's all speculation, no medical details have been provided to the public as far as i know. get the information out there - why the secrecy?

Some reports seem to suggest that it's his calf (he limped off in a previous match?), not the back. He picked it up during the MCG match BGT 2024-25, and played through the pain at that time (https://cricketgully.com/cricket-news/ind-vs-aus-jasprit-bumrah-injury-scare-walks-off-to-the-dressing-room-2415). 

 

PS: I agree, get it all out there so people know how serious these injuries are. And have expert orthopedic surgeons educate people about the dangers of ignoring such injuries in the name of "playing for the country."

The big optics mistake Bumrah / TM made was to pre-announce that he will only be available for 3 tests. Just keep your mouth shut and let it go where it goes.
