Gollum Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 If you can't handle Abhishek in nets, how will you handle Santner, Maharaj, Rashid, Zampa in the WC KOs? As such Gill is the first guy from our side to wave white flag in KOs (1 good knock in 23 SF, 7 failures), even if he makes it out of initial overs with his 130 SR, any half decent spinner will tie him up? GG is encouraging this madness, same GG who is supposedly against superstar culture? rollingstoned 1
Gollum Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Doing well in Asia Cup against 9th and 10th ranked sides means nothing. But failing even against them is damning.

He can always go back home and sharpen his skills. You can't do this during the middle of the tournament. He should have played duleep trophy and A series vs Australia instead of playing in this farce. He has no idea how to rotate strike vs spin and that might bite us in ass in future tests Edited September 21, 2025 by govinda vvvslaxman 1
Trichromatic Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Gill 24 innings 613 runs 29 avg 139 SR Jaiswal 22 inning 723 runs 36 avg 164 SR Conclusion - Gill is better batsman for T20s. Gollum, Ultimate_Game and Manucrick 2 1

Few days back, @Nikhil_cric shared a powerplay stat which is even more damning. Basically the only batsmen more destructive than Jaiswal in PP are Abhishek, Head and one more guy, I think Salt. He will be first choice opener in any country apart from India, because we have to accomodate a 140 SR superstar. Nikhil_cric and Manucrick 2

Manucrick Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 What's the point of Gill in T20s to tuk tuk or to eat balls in powerplay

vvvslaxman Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Absolute garbage bowling by Pakistan. Gill did one thing right though. HE covered all 3 stumps with bat against SHaheen
Gollum Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 (edited) Why are our people doing bhangra after beating 9th or 10th ranked side that got eliminated by US IT engineers in the previous WC? Reality check will come against Aus, RSA, NZ after this. Edited September 21, 2025 by Gollum Lord 1

Yes already suffered enough by mixing formats. You can't be fearless enough in T20s and solid enough for Tests at the same time. Maybe Jaiswal can do it but thats about it. And there's no need of Jaiswal to do it too. We have enough options Ultimate_Game and Gollum 2

Bad habits from T20s have creeped in his test game, threw away his wicket with T20 shots so many times against NZ last year, and in England......as such life is bloody tough for a test opener. He was much more compact in 2023-24. Lord 1

Gollum Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 (edited) What Jaiswal can do in T20s, 5 other guys from India can do something similar or better in next 10 years. What Jaiswal can potentially do in tests, very few in the history of cricket have achieved till date. At age 23, he has matchwinning 100s as opener in Perth and Oval, most of our ATGs couldn't achieve that in their entire careers. He is a potential 10k guy at 50 average, which for an opener in modern era is almost unthinkable.....guy is a hybrid of Graeme Smith and Sehwag. So yeah, him in tests should be first priority. Trichromatic Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 He increases the count of non-bearded players in XI. There was a time when everyone in XI had started keeping beard across all teams. Current T20 team - Only Bumrah is following that trend.
