What's the point of Gill in T20s???

The easiest fix is to drop Gill, let Samson open, bring in Iyer, Rinku or Parag in the middle and thats it.

At least in T20Is, Gill is this gen's Rahane. Rahane tortured us in 2 WT20s, inluding 2 SFs, 1 F, where he was dogshit.

He really has disappointed, He was good till IPL 2023. After that it went all down. Was expecting him to do Kohli role but he has totally let down the expectations. Also he seems not up for finals, yesterday he played same rubbish shot just like WC23 final.

It was same when Odi was the format, all the mony fame stardom is in the shortest format. No one has time to watch 5 days of a game where there are high possibility of no result

It shouldn't matter which format is considered better or superior. Simply the best player for the format and at the moment Jaiswal trumps Gill in every format. Jaiswal's stats in T20s are so much better than Gill but selectors are forcing Gill into the team when likes of Gill and Sai are both better than Gill.

How come Gill gets to choose his favorite (and easiest) position in all formats, while everyone around him (including rookies) has to jostle for the tougher spots?

There is no thread for Aus vs NZ series.

 

Last match NZ were 6/3 , still carried on the play and scored 180 runs and Aus in reply chased it down in 17th over.

With 3 wkts down for 6 NZ were 90+ in after 10 overs.

This is the new t20 cricket, teams are planning to score big and are ready to chase big. Some 1 from top 4 should be able to navigate through if there is a mni-collapse.

There are no dedicated players who would bring the rr down.

To me Jaiswal adds more value as an opener than Samson. Samson is way too unpredictable. Jaiswal as opener with Jitesh as wk down the order brings much more value than Samson as opener.

Jitesh shouldnt be dropped without playing,i think he should be flown to Aus and checked him against quality opposition,but I don't think he is better than Samson,he's cannot play the way Samson did vs paxtan in a tricky chase

Can't be done 3rd rate pitches like we had in Asia Cup final

Those SeNA pitches are true pitches ,if you are 3 down quickly batting first on those ,you will end up with 175+ or 180+ rather than 220+

Even Aus would have lost if they had posted 180+ here,these are batting shootouts,picking wickets with new ball is quite important to dent opposition upfront

Asia cup final pitch was not that bad, both sides played bad.

 

Even this Aus/NZ pitch was holding up a bit, and strong wind was blowing all the time. Ind added an anchor as VC so he is a sure pick in the 11.

It would be okay if they just picked him and let the team decide. These thing Aus do with SL and Bd tour.

 

And they do it with mo not openers, if its not good batting conditions (spin condition) then you need a solid batter in the mo not opening.

These are small thing Aus do better and  knows what they are doing.

 

Look at their side every1 is a pure hitter of the ball, their bowling is not that good so they added power to the batting

Those notches included a dropped sitter else we would've had a similar 9 off 12 ball innings from Samson.
