Trichromatic Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 He has been around for a decade. Is he already an ATG fast bowler or does he need to prove more?
singhvivek141 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 He is still few notches away. For once, against a formidable opponent like India in India he avg 44 odd. Likes of Shami, Umesh, Morkel out bowled him in those games. But even in bowling friendly conditions of AUs and NZ, he avgs around 26 and 29...decent but not an ATG level. Steyn was formidable in India.
KV244 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 He needs to prove himself in Indian conditions then he will be considered as ATG.
Majestic Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Yes he is already an ATG. 300+ test wickets at avg of 21. Away average is 24-25. His away performance is better than Anderson and he won SA the WTC Final by performing vs Australia. But yeah behind the likes of Bumrah and Cummins.
putrevus Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 He is already a ATG fast bowler even if he does not take any wicket in future.Steyn played with great SA teams which had such strong batting line ups. Rabada has been saddled with very weak batting lineups.Steyn doing well in India has lot to do with their batting lineups putting up huge totals.
maniac Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 The list of who qualifies to be a ATG pacer is not very long. Rabada has already qualified for it long time ago.
