More than the runs, just the entertainment value he brings. As batsman, as keeper with his funny comments and shouting. Every generation has that one pure entertainer, was Viru earlier, now Pant....these kind of characters make test cricket more watchable even for casuals.

Not sure we need to take Prasidh Eve if it's a green top. There still are 2 pacers plus Nitish. One of whom is Bumrah who's probably going to coast through the windies side looking at his stats against them. 

 

I'd drop Prasidh and get in another batsman in place. If only to let our batsmen learn to play good innings in tests. It's not that we need the extra batting depth but if we can keep Tilak Varma in the team , he's got the game for that and the time when he should be given the opportunity is when he's in form. 

 

Might even want to have Kuldeep as a spinner instead of one of Washington / Jadeja. Preferably Jadeja to make way considering he's closing in on his career and India needs to be looking at players for the long term.

Because they both are in the squad and I would have liked Eashwaran and Sarfaraz in their place.

 

Gambhir has some issue against them and if Sarfaraz was fit ,he would not have been selected. 

 

Eashwaran should have got this 2 test against West Indies.

Sai has done enough to earn a long run IMHO 

 

Agree that Sarfaraz should have been in if fit, and given how flat it was in England he should have played there instead of Nair- though I could see why they picked Nair, county experience etc

 

Some perception even amongst fans that he is a home bully, unfair as it is 

 

Between Sai and Easwaran, unfortunately for the Easwaran , Sai has outscored him in a couple of A series - Vs Lions and in Aus last year

I had some suspicions.

 

They are desperate for a fast bowling allrounder hence fast tracked NKR in BGT.

 

A good fast bowling allrounder gives immense balance.
