Cricketics Posted Monday at 03:04 PM Posted Monday at 03:04 PM (edited) During 2023 50 over wc in India, buying tickets was an issue since the scheudle and tickets were released quite late. With this t20 wc just few months away, somehow BCCI and ICC haven’t worked out the schedule and tickets yet again and leaving it to release really close. Avergae fan who wants to visit India from far to watch these games struggle and ofcourse a local fan would have to buy a resale and extremely expensive ticket too eventually to watch India play. Unsure what BCCI’s plan is this time. We already know Pakistan will be playing in Sri Lanka, so not like they have to decide where to schedule Pakistan‘s games. So just release the schedule so Indian fans and other fans from overseas can atleast plan their dates for their India trip. It is crazy that the schedule for Women’s t20 world cup which is in June next year has been out long time ago, but men’s t20 schedule isn’t even confirmed. Average fan would atleast like tomknow which datetheir team’s fame is so they can block out that week or weekend and take vacation accordingly. Very inept again Edited Monday at 03:05 PM by Cricketics Gollum 1

They don't care about foreign fans coming in to support their teams.. BCCI is happy that neutral matches in India are played in empty stadiums. All they want is broadcast deals are signed for the TV audience. They take Indian fans for granted who they know will come to India matches regardless of the experience Gollum, nevada and Cricketics 2 1
Gollum Posted Tuesday at 11:11 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:11 AM How come Eng, Aus, RSA are able to release schedules months, maybe even a year in advance? BCCI delays evertything till last minute, even ticket sales will be a sham. We aren't even exploring tourism opportunities, Eng/Aus fans love exploring Sri Lanka during their tours there, but we just want 100% Indian crowd. Zero sporting culture. Dharamsala 5th test last year was the only time I saw a decent foreign crowd in India. And it was so wonderful to watch. nevada, Cricketics and Manucrick 1 2
Gollum Posted Tuesday at 11:18 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:18 AM (edited) We already know Pak will play all games in Lanka. All participating teams finalized 3 weeks ago, yet no hint of releasing groups/schedules? Next women's T20 WC is in England (June-July '26), and schedule was out a few months ago. Cricket fans who wish to attend have so much time to make plans. India should never host any multi nation tourney. I remember CWG 2010 where we were still constructing residences a week before the opening ceremony, and there were plumbing issues, dirty toilets, electrical issues when athletes arrived in their village. Even a footbridge in the village collapsed on the eve of the games which could have been a tragedy, army was called in to fix it overnight. So mant athletes pulled out last minute. 2030 CWG will be a similar cluster*, same with 2031 ODI WC. And awarding 2036 Olympics to India will be a crime against humanity, like 1936 Berlin Games. I think global condemnation and embarrassment esp if something happens in 2036 due to shoddy infrastructure is needed and IOC suspending India from the games indefinitely might be a kick up the backside indian politicians need... but then again the dheet indian qoum thinks its vishawaguru and anything opposing it is anti india propaganda Gollum 1

Kuch hua? Our politicians, judges and babus are shameless vermin, cutting across party lines, ideologies etc. As long as they get a shot at looting, they won't give a damn about any 'embarrassment'. Do you think even 100 years from now, India can pull off a spectacle like Beijing 2008, an event which announced China's arrival to the world. Impossible. *ers can't organize a cricket tournament properly, but have dreams of hosting something 50-100 times bigger in scale.
ShoonyaSifar Posted Wednesday at 01:05 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:05 PM Talk to anyone in event management and you will know why advance schedules are not released. Each event is announced after extensive venue wise 'coordination and alignment' (read service fees both official and under the table + free tickets and passes that are sold in black market) with local police, municipal bodies, electricity board, fire control and every big local netas/ labour union leaders and their sidekick gets paid off (directly or through contracts for food stalls, local logistics etc and promises of access to players for photos) as well. This can take months. The whole reason why politicians and IAS/IPS officers are in top leadership of sports bodies also is partly due to this reason, helps to manage each of these 'stakeholders'. Why is Rajiv Shukla, a permanent face in BCCI and at matches. Has connections everywhere, and helps coordinate and fix deals with all concerned, particularly in states where non-NDA governments are there. IPL teams have a higher fixed rate they pay to these entities at their home stadiums and loosen the purse more than BCCI, so the organization and experience is a little better than international matches.

Only Eden compares in capacity at 68,000. Ahmedabad has had 101000 for IPL 2023 Final, 100000 for Ind-Pak match, 92000 for 2023 WC final, 90000 people for 2025 IPL Final (not involving the home team). Yes the support of cried during the chase in the WC Final should have been better but in the same WC, the same/ similar crowd made life hell for Pakistani. It was almost a cauldron, 100000+ singing our anthem and then cheering the team through the thrashing. It's an excellent stadium for watching matches live. Easy access (now through metro), great facilities. Getting to be in a clubhouse seat is an experience with having Stadiums like Wankhede with much smaller capacity (33,000), Chepauk (38,000), Bangalore (40,000), Hyderabad (39,000) etc. have massive history and legacy, but each of these are old stadiums and should have seen mega upgrades by now post the 2011 WC. What looked world class on 2011 will look a bit outdated 15 years later.
ShoonyaSifar Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Having said this, am a bit disappointed not to see Dharmshala on the list. It should always hold at least 3-4 non-India games in multi team tournaments, will always be a near sellout with 20000+ fans. It's quite an experience watching ganes live from that stadium. Two recent matches I attended 1. NZ-Aus match in WC, was a run fest but ultimate fun. During IPL as well, went for Punjab Kings vs LSG match..only thing I don't like is the 1 km uphill walk to the car park after the match and a bit of traffic chaos but the lovely weather and clean air makes up for all deficiencies.

Dharmashala in Feburary would be crazy idea dude. Lovely weather? Bhai its up north, snow/precipitation in feburary. World cup is jn feb, and not end of March.

Day temp of 12-15 degrees, night time 3-5 degrees, a bit similar to end-Niv, early December weather. Will be cold but no snow. Might snow in Mcleodganj which is at higher altitude (2100 meters) and in the Dhauladhar mountain range but not in Dharmshala, particularly where the stadium is. It is at an altitude of ~1400 meters and much more temperate. Last year it held a test match vs England from March 7. In 2022, held two T20s vs SL on 26 and 27 Feb. Friends went for those matches and had a great time. Could have scheduled a couple of England and NZ matches there. But likely the poor outfield during 2023 WC (fully relaid now) played a bigger part than weather conditions in the decision.

All teams are decided. Also, even if qualifiers were yet to happen, the schedule for other world cups has often released before. For example schedule would say Australia plays against Qualifier 1 on Feburary 10 etc in Mumbai.
