Which type of pitches should we prepare against South Africa?

Ragging Square Turners or Flat Pitches?

a pitch similar to Delhi maybe with morw bounce ,we cannot play on a turner at any cost.

They've got spinners. Hopefully with the likes of Kohli gone , we won't have a tail ender coming in at #4

no grass black soil pitch,it will slow down a lot as the match goes on going by history.

Normal test pitches, some swing and seam on first morning, good for batting next couple of days, some bounce for pacers and spinners.

 

Under no circumstances should we go back to the pathetic dust bowls of last 4-5 years. It hurt our test cricket in the long run, batters lost confidence, opposition spinners looked better than they were.

With Ashwin/Shami/Umesh gone, Jaddu having become old/jaded, Bumrah with a slight dip, taking 20 wickets won't be that straightforward. But that shouldn't deter us from making proper sporting tracks like we did the last time RSA toured here. Short term fixes like we saw post-pandemic do more harm to Indian cricket. 

 

Make normal pitches and hope KD, Washi, Siraj announce themselves to the world like how our previous generation did.

Almost same time

 

Ashes 5 tests

NZ-WI 3 tests

Ind-RSA just 2

 

Then the fact that we play just 5 tests next year (even there, the one-off test against Afg in June is doubtful). Disgrace.

There should be a minimum of 12 tests per year.

No 4-D chess needed. India should be good enough to win at home on a standard Indian surface. Doctoring and trying to be too clever with pitches has always backfired on India and there is no reason to attempt it now.

Spineless from Gautam Gambhir to go back to the same pitches as in the NZ series. With this mindset, forget the WTC. Thoroughly disappointed.

 

Looks like despite Ganguly saying TM made no request on pitch, GG has used his old connections with the Eden curator from KKR days to get a tailor made pitch. The same curator in the last IPL refused to accept Rahane's request for KKR home ganes.
