Ball is doing nothing. These runs are valuable. 42 runs so far

They will be bowling with brand new ball , it will do more. They are batting against 70 over old ball .This is best time to bowl.

Getting couple of wickets is more important than 50 runs added.

There is argument for them to bat on too .

Fifty stand for the last wicket

Boland to Root, SIX runs

Root x Bazball! Reverse-slapped over the head of deep third! Jumps across and collars Boland's short ball with impunity. Neser was down on the rope, actually got a hand to the ball - but couldn't hold on, or flick it back in

Kohli was pathetic against Boland.

Front foot lunging/plonking against Boland is suicide. Root is a brilliant backfoot player.

Can he score 51 100s

He can score 60.  English teams have a habit of letting their legends play till 40 if they're performing well enough.

Boycott, Gooch, Anderson all played well into their late 30s touching 40s.

So true, he had no shots other than cover drive. Looking back in Kohli’s career did he ever play cut and square of the wicket thru offside.

Cook retired by 36 if I am not wrong. So cannot say anything if he retires.

Root 2.0 has been something else , he has flawless technique too.
