Listen to your own hypocrisy, what is Hindi culture? VM and BMKJ he respected all over india except by a few Bengali, who are secular and are sensitive about hurting Muslim friends. Rest of india has no qualms about Jana Gana Mana which is in Bengali. There is nothing exclusive about Bengali culture or any other regional culture in India, there is no supremacy compared to Hindi or any other languages. This is why a lot of Indians hate a few Bengali with their Faux pride just like a few Dravidians feel false, supremacist pride about their language. Nobody can dominate any culture in India. This is the fear mongering that you guys are doing to keep nationalistic feeling out of the state. 10 hours ago, straighttalk said: Wait since when is cow belt a colonial term ..derogatory depends on your perception...cow is revered holy according to Hindu culture... I dunno what is derogatory about it ..it's just aliens to Bengal..like bengalis are fish and meat lovers, are more liberal , secular. And value women more...topics that are alien to current BJP..so they are not welcome in bengal inspite of the gross mismanagement of trinamul. If BJP had local Bengali leaders .then they would have won much earlier. Maybe they will win just because people are fed up with mamata. But if they lose...it's not because of mamata but rejection of their communal idealogy. You are again confusing Bengali culture with Hindu culture. Make up your mind. Kazi nazrul Islam is as Bengali as tagore. Bringing Islamic culture might be anti thesis to Hindus but not to Bengali. So be clear say tmc is patronizing Islam and that is against Hindu..but saying it's against Bengali culture is factually incorrect. So once you are clear that you think tmc is anti Hindu and not anti Bengali then you perhaps have a better point. Well to bjp..having Muslim candidate is enough for them to be fearful that a handful of peaceful can destroy the majority Hindus in this country...that's the poison and fear mongering I am calling out ..if BJP stuck to ani terrorism and anti illegal immigration..no one would have a problem ..but when there is 0 development..making the idiots jumps into kill Mollah allows them to win elections. So be it Cow belt refers to a region where the cattle population is more than the rest of the country, just like the Bible belt. Bible belt is referred to in a negative way to mock at people who are religious conservative evangelist. The same way cow belt is referred to derogatively indicating a conservative religious culture with the north south divide. There’s nothing that you said about cow belt is sacred. So stop being naïve about it. In the last three elections, BJP has increased its vote share in Bengal and influences increasing. No matter how much you fear about Hindi culture taking over Bengali’s, people are welcoming the growing Hindu influences in Bengal. JSR Slogan is pretty popular. That is what the secular people are fearing that the Hindu culture and impact is increasing in Bengal after a few hundred years of biased liberal secular hegemony. No matter how much you think about kaaba Namaz in Durga festivities, there is no reciprocity of the same by Muslims of Bengal. Heck, they don’t even see the Bengali language Pride and I have not seen many speak Bengali, Urdu is more popular among Muslims in Bengal, just like in Bangladesh. The other reason that BJP is gaining popularity in Bengal is mainly because of the fear of WB becoming like Bangladesh with large scale genocide of Hindus going on there . Regularly, Durga processions and Shobha yatras are being attacked by Muslim mobs. Mamata telling Bengalis to not celebrate festivities in Muslim areas, as if it is Pakistan exclusively. The growing influence of radical Islam in West Bengal is because of the liberal minded bhadraloks singing kaaba Medina songs, while Muslim mobs attack Hindu processions. This is also the reason why Bengal got partitioned into Hindu and Muslim areas bu Jinnah. And still there is a growing influence of radical Islam in West Bengal. There is no such issue in the Punjab region of India because in 1947 Punjabiis chased out all the Muslims into West Punjab, while West Bengal didn’t do that. The inherent Secular Culture you talk about is mainly having no will to fight back. Even now Bangladeshis are pouring over across the border and are being protected by liberal secularBengali in India. They are even migrating across India to all cities. Being a border state, rest of India cannot afford a faux secular liberal culture of Bengal, which is detrimental to national security. If not this election, at least the next election will have a different government than TMC. randomGuy and singhvivek141 1 1
straighttalk Posted May 1 Posted May 1 13 hours ago, Mariyam said: This arguement is interesting. What do you mean by ‘Hindi culture’ exactly? Given that Bengal and the Hindi heartlands border each other, there has been cultural and linguistic exchange for millenia. Can we so readily distinguish between the two cultures? There is because it's alien to bengalis and south Indians and maybe even Oriyas. Language is an emotional issue. That is the reason Mamata is able to hold on to power even though her administration is useless ..bengalis are fiercely proud of their culture and obnoxiously look down upon Hindi culture as more uncouth...not saying it's justified but explaining how the average bhadralok things...they associate Hindi with bimaru states. Crass songs, Bollywood crap, wealth and show off, communalism (new) as well as a patriarchal society...this lack of understanding and fear is magnified when BJP brings in people like yogi adityanath Amit shah etc and have a track record of trying to impose Hindi...add in vegetarianism etc..they go against the pluralism espoused by people like tagore Vivekananda and others. Lot of you will be surprised to hear that Swami Vivekananda actually had beef. BJP would be much better served building local leaders not just tmc turncoats. They will be lot more welcome. Mariyam 1

Lord rama is worshipped...but jai shri ram is a BJP or Hindi slogan..not a Bengali slogan. Durga Lakshmi kali ma shiv dev and saraswati are the more popular deities in bengal. There are many Krishna and narayana temples but hardly rama temples in bengal. That doesn't mean he is not worhsipped..just not as much as say in Up or how Ganesha is worshipped. Jn Maharashtra BJP supporters can shout...it's a free country..people can say jai shri ram or allah hu akbar with equal right but neither is a common refrain among Bengali Hindus. If you knew anything about Bengali culture or Bengali Hindus..you would know that Shri Chaitnya and Hare Krishna Hare Rama are more popular here. Anyhow... AnnaMalai is too educated and polished to succeed TN Dravidian politics. He was more popular in Karnataka than in Tamil Nadu when he started. He should have come up in ranks in Karnataka and then moved , probably. He could not garner votes. Vijay on the other hand, comes from cinema and has a very strong fan base. We really have to wait till May 4. Movie stars definitely can win elections more than politicians. There are many examples in the north like Amitabh Bachchan winning his first election against a seasoned politician like Bahuguna in 1985. Hema Malini Dharmender, Vinod Khanna are all the same. Is it that people of TN are anti bjp due to being averse to hindi so much that they will choose a newcomer to giving bjp ever a chance? @ravishingravi @Gollum with the initial popularity of AM, BJP thought they could go on their own without any party help. It looks like they don’t have the patience with AM and wants to piggyback ADMK for a few more years or cycles of elections. AM went against both DMK and also ADMK politicians which they didn’t like, and he didn’t bring any returns as well. So it looks like BJP lost patients with him. It is hard for any party to break in into the dravidian ecosystem of TN. National issues don’t ring popular there. BJP model in Karnataka was better with local politicians winning elections on their own. From the 90s till 2008, they increased their vote share every election. Even in Karnataka, they had to piggyback with JDS initially to get some semblance of power. It looks like BJP wants to try the Karnataka model TN. as well.

It does seem to be national pollsters have bjp easily. Local pollsters seem to skew towards tmc. Anybody know what local pollsters are thinking? Tushar is not a local poster, but BJP sympathizer. The way he analyzed each assembly seat is pretty unique. Listen to the first 15 minutes, it looks pretty bleak for BJP. I think the exit polls that are protecting 200+ for BJP have over sold the results. Be prepared for a repeat of 2021.
randomGuy Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) @coffee_rules think of it, they are willing to give a chance to new party but not to national party trying hard from quite some time...If each state just wants regional parties and no national party, will it strengthen or weaken national unity, cohesion and power? And what kind of people mentality does it show? You mentioned "National issues don’t ring popular there". I view it as deliberate thing due to strong dislike of hindi that nothing else matters.
