R!TTER Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 I blame the entire setup, it's not like peak Brat or 1(2?) year test peaking RGS were winning us loads of trophies away is it?

Gollum Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 W/L of 8 over 12 years is insane. Even GOAT WI/Aus never had that kind of home dominance.

Talk is about test cricket. Peak Brat saw the greatest era of home domination by any team, and Virat held the test mace (season ending number 1 ranking) 5 years in a row. No Indian captain is ever repeating that. 50 months we were number 1 ranked under the great man's captaincy. Even under Rohit we were number 1 for 8 months. putrevus and BacktoCricaddict 2

Spot on, It was under Kohli we started taking 20 wickets everywhere . Lord and Gollum 1 1

vvvslaxman Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 Shades of Greg chappell with our ODI unit in 2007 can be seen with Gambhir. Greg pushed Tendulkar down to 4 and broke the working pattern in world cup events.

Issue is with batting Taking 20 wickets on these types of pitches was happening from 1970s so nothing new .They then were taking those 20 wickets with 4 bowlers , here you needed 6 bowlers to take those 20 wickets that is the problem and that is the reason why there was issue with batting. Taking 20 wickets everywhere with 4 main bowlers plus one all rounder started happening under Kohli only.

Who can forget that no name OKeefe taking 12fer https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/ind-v-aus-2016-17-1030197/india-vs-australia-1st-test-1062573/full-scorecard Look at the scorecard. Batting issue was there even then. Under gambhir 3 out of 4 tests had these types of tracks. On all 3 occasions we lost the toss. Predictably we failed on all three occasions.
Bigg Brother Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 No matter how much you blame GG, Indian team is just not good enough at test level. Siraj saved GG's arse in England otherwise we would have lost there as well. Talk about fielding three sides in LOIs, in tests we can hardly assemble single proper XI. Ashwin was massive loss(We are never finding player of his caliber in our lifetime ever again), We have no Pujaras,Kohlis incoming, Paddikal,Sarfaraz are medicore bunch of batters.. This coach blaming and all stuff is Pakistani' things who remain in delusion of "There is talent" but something wrong is with other than Players(coach, pitches etc)..124 is chaseble everywhere, idiots lost chasing 190 in England. In 2015 Against SA at Mohali, Pujara and Vijay won us test on pitch even worse than this.

The real phainty will start once Jadeja retires lol India won several tests at home without Jadeja thanks to Ashwin. If Jadeja leaves we are screwed big time. Edited November 17, 2025 by vvvslaxman
vvvslaxman Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 High time India finds actual spinners not darters bowling at 95 kph.

Problem is Gambhir and his idiotic way of analyzing test cricket and cricket in general. England series could have been won too if Kuldeep played in tests there.

Anyway skipper Kohli lost just 2 tests at home in 7-8 years, and each time it took 2 of the finest modern day batsmen, Smith and Root to score their career best knocks. With a better coach at the helm, that England series was ours, 3-1. We did well in England despite GG, he should count himself lucky that Siraj bowled his heart out to win us Oval, once in a lifetime performance which prevented a sureshot series defeat. I completely agree, coach needs to have an understanding how to win test matches. For that to happen you need to have vision, even yesterday after loss this guy was talking about my country this , my country that and Jingoistic nonsense.
