PCI of Pooks was higher than India during the time.  2006 Pook cricketers were products of better economy and grassroot structure of PCB.  Their senior sides were pretty competitive during the same period.

Beating them should be the norm for Indian age group cricket in this day and age. We are punching well below our weight.

Time to acknowledge and reflect.

By your logic Aus,SA,NZ,Eng U19 side should never loose against us

After seeing how guys like Kartik sharma going for million dollars everyone wants to showcase their hitting skill at any level. That is the only way you get picked by IPL teams.  It is not just the quality of the teams. It is the attitude of players that sees a significant change. It is not like we never had Northeast teams before.

They apparently rarely lose against us in most of other sports.  That's why Field hockey wins against Gora nations are pretty special.

It's a fact that top tier athletes of these countries don't opt for cricket.

Pooks only invest in Cricket, it's their be all and end all coz of their poor economic condition.

Same case with BD who are perhaps worst sporting nation on the planet.

I am talking economically.. ofc BCCI being super wealthy and Indian cricket being heavily funded and resources should do better.

We have a bigger talent pool & cricketing resources than  other nations.

Whether we are falling short in selection, grooming or tactical stuff is what's stopping us.

The famous Ian Chappell quote comes to mind that the day Indian cricket sorts this stuff out will be a day of terror for rest of the cricketing world.

Boria Majumdar was trolled for this as well.  We had grown ass guys playing phattu cricket in the 2023 final  and losing the match when we had world class bowling attack. We don't want such a repeat. It almost happened against in 2024 final. But thankfully many things went our way in the last 5 overs. Did he mention about how sachin handeld 360 chase in 2003 final?  We have to look at their age befor ejumping all over these guys. HE is freaking 16 at the most. We are expecting him like Ricky ponting already with all the mental aspects in tact. Do you know how kela , Rohit , pujara played in under-19 world cup? India u-19 world cup final we got blown away in 2006 by pakistan.  Not even Asia cup. It was world cup.

Boria Majumdar..was the one who was banned earlier right..nvr trust opinions of people like him

North east teams need massive improvement in their standard. May be this is where states where promising talents sitting outside for  3 or 4 years should go and play there.

Can they club NE into one team to improve their quality..like how WI create one team from all the islands

yes. they can do. But there will be politics and other things. It will eventually lead to some fights. May bethey need a qualifier round.

Finally someone spoke.. god someone revamp this third class domestic structure ffs.

It worst among top 6 test playing nations easily.

Yes standards are not that high, but why pointing out one game ???? There were multiple 320+ scores why not to give it a complete story.

In recent Odi series vs SA there were couple of  matches where both teams scored 340+ .

Why selective criticism

It will be like that forever. People want to score  faster so that they catch eye balls at the IPL auction. Players use every opportunity they get to do that.

Once you get top 13-14 sides and merge a lot of useless ones... Standards will improve drastically.

Player redistribution will be even and creamy layer will come out on top.

Think they should have challenger trophy kind of thing again, play 5-6/7 team(Ind -Blue, Greem ,Re, yellow etc) , they can also market it.

Redistribution and removing teams at domestic level is nt a right thing to do because of various reasons. Think it was irani trophy when zone selectors openly asked national selectors not to intervene, there are alot of dynamics goes on in that.

Irani and Duleep are honestly better tournaments than Ranji and especially VHT.

VHT is even worse than SMAT quality wise and has been for a while now.

I fully agree that Challenger Trophy should be back instead of VHT.

But to improve our domestic 4 day structure there is no other option other than immediate culling.

Otherwise we will continue to struggle in test format in coming years

The talent that's coming through for 4 day FC cricket isn't particularly bright either.

India will sooner have to adopt BazBall like structure it we even want to be competitive home and abroad until domestic structure is fixed.

Looking ahead a 4-0 or 3-0 drubbing in home BGT is a big concern too.  Series win is extremely unlikely scenario at this stage against Aus.

The selection should be

IPL--> T20i

VHT+ Challenger + 1-2 (players) T20is--> Odis

Ranji + ODIs--> Tests.

The issue is test selection is the easiest but Ind selectors want to make it look toughest and make it their diy expriment/project.

In tests team just need 7-8 best batters in the country including 1 good wk-batter and 5/6 good bowlers + 1 reserve keeper and hopefully a good seam bowling allrounder.

Bits an pieces players do not work in tests or they do not work against a better side in general in cricket.

For test select a player on 1 v.good skill and then if they can add 1 more skill that is really good for the side. A bits a pieces player may look good in 1 game but most of time they will struggle.

Team selection should be such that they insure 20 wkts and out bat the opp. its simple is test.

Look at  all the proper allrounders in test either they were allrounder from the v.start Flintoff, Kallis..etc... Or they had a v.good primary skill like Kapil, Imran, botham... etc..

None of them were bits and pieces. Yes if bhumrah develops batting he is good , Siraj develops batting its good same for any other player.

Yes team can look to develop certain player but not 3/4 players at a same time which Ind is doing with ::: Sai, Sundar, Reddy ....., if you want to develop a player develop in odis 1st.

Selecting a player from T20s or IPL not the way , Ind domestic players have cracked the code :: they have improved in the scenario based selection which IPL teams/scouts do. Tests and Odis is not scenario based.

If India really wants to maintain the gap between us and other Asian lower tear teams they have to vastly improve their pace bowling unit. Cannot  go with these trundlers. I understand we mostly play these guys in spin friendly surfaces. But if we really want to bully them with short stuff need pace bowlers .

Due to these spin friendly conditions we are neither producing good spin bowlers nor batters who can handle good spinners
